B-12 injection question.

For any of you who self inject your B12 or get the injections I'm supposed to inject once a month, I did my first injection on Nov 9 so would I wait 4 weeks to that day for my next injection or wait til Dec 9. I know this may sound silly but I am really curious. I wasn't given any instructions on it so I'm not sure.

I don't think it's a silly question! I go every month on the 21st to my Dr. office to get my injections. So I wait the 30 ot 31 days, not just 4 weeks. It's working fine for me, in fact my ins won't pay for it anymore often than that.

Thanks for your reply. I think I'll just make do the 9th of the month and see how that works. On the long months I may inject after 4 weeks we'll see it just depends how i feel I guess. I found its much cheaper for me to inject than to have it done at the doctors office (only cost me 10 dollars total for the syringes and b12 for 1 year) plus my PCP said it wasn't necessary for me to inject it and wanted me to just do the sublinguals since my test was ok (he decided to check it because i asked bout starting injections there so I didn't have to drive to St V's) but then I brought it up with Dr C and she gave me a prescription for it and all that fun stuff to self inject.

I don't think I could give myself the injections! The lovenox was bad enough!. Plus, with my ins I don't pay for them at the doctor's office, so it's actually the cheapest way for me to get it done.

Thats good. Our insurance doesn't like to cover vitamins at all soooo I am unsure if it would cover the b12 through my docs office even if I could have gotten it.

Wow--that is really inexpensive for a whole year!  Did your insurance pay part of it?  If so, how did you get your insurance to cover it?

My insurance did cover some of it but very little. The b12 itself for the whole bottle for the year was only $6.68 at Wal-Mart's pharmacy and my insurance covered .68 cents lol. The syringes were 4.00 because I only needed 12 (they gave me 18 just in case I guess) sooooooo it was only 10.00. Dr Cacucci just gave me a prescription for them and I took it and asked the pharmacy expecting it to be expensive.

I used to inject each month on my anniversary date (11th).  But now I inject every other week.  I was getting fatigued and the doc suggested that I double my times for dosing.  I can tell when it's time for another shot.  I am so thankful for B-12 injections.

I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
