FINALLY.....a surgery date!!!

I went to the surgeon's today and it seems like I have a surgery date for Dec. 17th!!!  Yeah!!!  At first they told me that I'd have to wait until next year.....that seems to be the norm for some reason.  When they found out that I had approval from the insurance, etc. then she looked on her schedule and found out that I was penciled in.   Hopefully everything will go a little smoother from here.....it seems like it's been a long haul. They still have to get the paperwork from the Bariatric center and I have to get my referral faxed to them......since it was approved I didn't know I'd need it, but my surgeon isn't affiliated with my insurance, but he does do surgery at the hospital that I can go to. Congratulations on getting the date scheduled! Woo-Hoo!! It'll be here before you know it!!! I have 8 days to go and the last three weeks (since scheduling it) has just flown by.

Congrats on getting a date!  That's great news.  Don't worry, the time will just fly by.  I had surgery on Monday, I can't believe it's Thursday already.  I wish you all the luck in the world!

Thanks!!!  How are you doing from your surgery?  This will be a revision for me.  Since it's 8 days before Christmas I hope I'll feel like going places.  We go to my parent's Christmas Eve and usually stay all night, but maybe not this year. Then we go to my brother-in-laws around 3:00 that afternoon.  I'm sure I'll be on liquids, but don't know if it'll be clear or full at that time. I had my first surgery 10 yrs. ago and can't quite remember how long it took me to feel like going places.  I can't believe that it's only 3 weeks from Monday before I have my surgery, so I'm sure time will fly. Thanks again and I hope you're doing well!

Thanks so much for the blessings Gail!

I had Dr. Huse for my first surgery 10 yrs. ago and really liked him too.  When I had my appointment last Wed. with him he had not changed too much......maybe a little grayer hair and a little bit of a stomach......LOL....but otherwise, he was just as I remembered him.  Of course the gray hair and the little bigger gut seems to happen to all of us as we age.....lol.   I have to find out Monday if my PCP's office faxed the referral to them and check and see if they got my paperwork from the bariatric center or whomever they have to get them from.

Are you seeing him for your checkup?

Thank you very much for the hugs and prayers!!!   Candy

I also have Dr. Huse and I think he is a great soft spoken man. I have had only one little complication. About 3 weeks after my 3 month appointment I started having this horrible pain when I took more than 3 bites of food. Far cry from the 3-4 ounces they told me to eat. So with Nicole's help I am now back on prilosec twice a day and it is so much better. Must have been an ulcer the way I see it. Other than that it has been the best ride of my life. Just should have happened about 20 years ago but then I would not have found Dr. Huse and he would not have the technology that is available to him today.  Good luck and I'll keep checking to make sure you come through with flying colors as I'm sure you will.

Thanks Sue!

I had Dr. Huse 10 yrs. ago when I had my VBG and I had no problems!!!  He is great!  He hasn't really changed much, as far as his personality, but has a little as far as physical aspects......but that's not surprising since it's been 10 yrs.......I know I've changed!!!!  10 yrs. seems to do that to a person.....LOL.   I take Prilosec now, but haven't been taking it as much.  When I had the VBG, I never had heartburn or anything once I started losing quite a bit of the weight.    I've heard of quite a few people who get an ulcer after having this surgery.   I was worried about the scar tissue, but Dr. Huse told me that they were using a gel or something to keep from getting adhesions back then.  So, I shouldn't have anything to worry about.....I'd always heard that there was a much bigger risk of a revision because of adhesions.  I just hope I can go to families during Christmas, since my surgery is only 8 days before.  I know I'll still have some pain more than likely.  I just hate to stay home during the holidays......we stay at my parent's usually on Christmas eve and go to my brother-in-laws Christmas afternoon.  I guess we'll see how I feel. I'll keep letting everyone know how I'm doing.  Thanks again! Candy
