I'm Home
I had surgery on Oct. 15th came home on the 16th. I wasnt really sore at all. My left side of my stomach was tender, it felt more like a pulled muscle. It bothered me for about a week. But as for pain I didnt have any. Just think of it like this, each and every day will only get better!! Good luck and Congrats!!!
Whitney,
I was my sorest that first week. Once I had the drainage tube removed, most of the pain/discomfort left with it. It was only occationally..and mainly at night, that I took any loratab after that first week. It took me 3-4 more weeks though to get my energy level back up. Remember that the first 4-6 weeks are the hardest. After that, it's not bad at all!

Yeah, that's what it's feeling like to me too. The left side of my tummy is tender. I feel really stiff when I get outta bed and stuff. Actually it takes me a minute to get out of bed. My mom surprised me with new mattresses for Christmas, and they're a lot higher up then my last ones. I just keep pacing around my house...for the walking I mean. I have on my binder over my shirt so it's not quite so itchy. I'm just uncomfortable is all.
WHITTYERIN,
IT GOES AWAY AFTER THE TUBE COMES OUT. I SLEPT IN A RECLINER FOR A WEEK AFTER THE TUBE CAME OUT I WAS IN MY BED. IF YOU HURT AT ALL TAKE SOMETHING DONT HURT. BUT LIKE SHERRY SAID IT TAKES A FEW WEEKS TO GET BACK THE ENERGY.
I AM GLAD YOU ARE HOMW AND DOING WELL. JUST FOLLOW WHAT DR DIAZ SAYS AND YOU WILL DO AWSOME.
VICKI
Yayyyy! Welcome to the other side!!!! Whoo hooo!!!
Like the others, I felt much better after my tube was taken out. I got some childrens liquid motrin and took it during the day so I wouldn't be wiped out. It worked.
I also felt a lot better after I had my first BM. It seemed like the pressure from the gas went away quickly after that. Nothing like a good BM!
Take it easy but don't forget to walk. I found I felt better the day after I got a lot of walking in.
CONGRATS!
Jacqui
So Jacqui, how long did it take you to have your first BM? I'm lucky I live here with my mom, I can't bend over to do anything yet. She's very helpful and concerned about me. When I was in the shower, she stayed in the bathroom with me. She had to leave when I gave myself my Lovenox shot...weiner! hahaha
My mom is a nurse so she gave me all of my lovenox shots. DH is the weinie when it comes to shots! I had to do a lot of fertility shots for us to have our daughter and my mom had to give me all of those too! Thank God for mothers!
I remember telling my mom that it had been 5 days since I had a BM. She told me to call the doc if I hadn't had one in the next few days. The next day it happened! I was afraid it would hurt but it really didn't. (Ah the things we remember and talk about on this board! lol)
Hope your bowells start moving soon! It would be a great Thanksgiving present!
