Hi, I have a problem and I don't know what to do.  My Pre-op test is on Wed.  I went to the doctor last Wed. and she told my I had a ear infection.  She gave me a Z-Pack. I never took it before.  It don't seem to be working.  I'm going to call her back tomorrow.  Will this affect my pre-op test? Has anyone been through this before?  I am VERY WORRIED.  I have worked so hard for this and been blessed to get my surgery date for Dec. 7.  I only have till the end of Dec. to have surgery because our insurance runs out at the end of the year.  So I can't afford another date.  Thanks Terri

I had a sinus and upper respiratory infection when I went for my preop testing and it was fine. It did decrease my pulmonary tests a little bit but it didn't effect my surgery date. I'm willing to bet you'll be aok!

If your surgeon wants you to do the "breath test" for H. pylori (a bacteria that may live in the stomach) they ask you to not take antibiotics for 2 weeks prior to the test.  I suggest you call their office and ask if the z-pak will be a problem.  But don't stop the antibioti****il you hear back.

Thanks Lady's The first thing I did when I got back from the doctors was to call my surgeons office (Dr. Jones).  They told me that it would be fine to take the Z-Pak. I am starting to feel better.  I guess time will tell.  Thanks Terri
