I have a few ?'s

Hey all,  I have a few questions to ask? 1. When do you start the all liquid diet

2. How long are the test and do they do them all in one day?

3. Do you sechedule your preop call or do they and is it really 6 hours long.  4. My daughter is 18 months but I have been telling her that mommy is having sugrey? 5. Do you have priviate rooms? I hope this is not too many ?'s Thanks Jana

This is my experience thus far... 1.  The day before surgery I eat a regular breakfast, full liquid lunch, and clear liquid dinner.  Nothing to eat or drink after midnight. 2.  Yes, they do all the testing in one day.  They tell you it will last 3 hours, but I was only there for 2 hours. 3.  They will call you and schedule your pre op testing. 4.  I have no kids, so I can't help ya here...sorry. 5.  Yes, the rooms at St. V are private rooms. Hope this helps ya out some.

JANA DR DIAZ DOES NOT DO AN ALL LIQUID DIET EXCEPT FOR THE DAY BEFORE THE PRE OP TESTS TAKE ABOUT 3 HOURS GIVE OR TAKE THE NUT CLASS IS WHAT TAKES 6 HOURS AND THAT IS DONE ON A DIFFERENT DAY THET CALL YOU WITH A DATE FOR THE PRE OP TESTS

I WOULD JUST TELL HER THAT YOU ARE HAVING A SURGERY TO MAKE YOUR TUMMY SMALLER SO THAT YOU WILL GET HEALTHY SO THAT YOU CAN GO PLAY AND DO THINGS WITH HER MORE OFTEN

YOU HAVE A PRIVATE ROOM AND THEY ARE REALLY AWSOME AT ST VINCENTS YOU WILL LOVE IT IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE ? FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME I WILL TELL YOU ALL I KNOW ABOUT DR DIAZ HE ALSO DID MY SURGERY AND I AM DONG REALLY WELL

Since we're all Diaz Dolls I thought I'd reply as well.  The only thing I can add is that the nut class and pre-op testing can't be done on the same day.  They did make them back-to-back days for me so I wouldn't have to make two trips.  They will work with you on what is best for your schedule. My daughter is 6 yrs old so it was a bit easier for me to explain it to her.  We have Holiday World here in my county so I explained that I was having a surgery to make Mommy small enough to ride the rides at Holiday World with her.  She also wants me to play twister with her so I threw that in as well.  She's really excited about it.  I guess I didn't explain it well enough though because she expected me to come home from the hospital ready to play twister....NOT!   She goes on my walks with me and enjoys tasting my protein shakes.  She thinks it's hilarious that I use a baby spoon and a sippy cup.  She even asked me if she could feed me when I first came home!   When you're in the hospital, don't forget to ask about popsicles.  When I got put on the clear liquids, the broths and jello really made me nauseated.  I asked for a popsicle and it was wonderful!  The banana ones were the best.   Good luck Jana!  I'm here if you need me! Hey Jacqui, Thanks. Was your surgeon Daiz too. He seemed so nice when I meet him at the consutation. I have my bags somewhat packed for the hospitial with stuff I dont use daily. I dont belive he is booked out very far. So I am sure I will get a call from Heather on Monday lets hope. Do they make the appointment with the preop class or do call them once you have a sugery date. I am so confussed but I am sure it will get better. Hi Jana! I don't have Dr. Diaz, but I am having surgery at St. V's.  When Heather called me yesterday with my date, she said she would be calling me again on Monday with the date for my pre-op testing.  And after she gives me that info, she said she would transfer me to the nutritionist to schedule my nut. class.  She told me I don't have to do anything but wait for her to call Monday.  All the additional info about the pre-op testing will be mailed out. I hope you get your date Monday!

Jana, When Heather called with my date she transferred me down to make my appointments for the pre-op and nut class.  Dr. Diaz's schedule was very open when she called me.  As a matter of fact, I had to turn down the date she gave me because it was too soon!  I got to choose my own date. I love Dr. Diaz.  I've only seen him twice.  Once at my consult and then the day of my surgery.  He left for vacation after my surgery and Dr. Gupta did my hospital visits and 1 week post op visit.  She's a dear too.   Hopefully you'll get your date on Monday!  Let us know!
