Hi everyone,
Teusday at 2:45PM I became a grandma again. My daughter Jessie had to have a C-section, she gave birth to a very handsome little boy named, Andy Steven Duane McIntosh, he weighed 7lbs. and was 19.5" long.
I got to see them on Wed. morning. They thought everthing was fine with Andy, but unfortunately it wasn't.
Everytime he'd try to eat he'd choke. Well after doing several test on him they found out that his throat opening is way to small and he can't swallow properly. They have both been transfered to St.Vincent's. The dr.'s are planning on doing some kind of surgery to correct this problem. I'm asking you my OH family to pray for both of them. Thanks for your well wishes and prayers in advance. Love you all.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.  My son had to have a hernia repair when he was 4 months old and that was 21 years ago!

Medicine continues to improve and they can do so much these days and you'll be amazed out how well your grandson recovers.  Kids don't know that they have had surgery and should be hurting - they just move on.  When my son had his surgery it was same day surgery and he came home from the hospital and that afternoon he was standing and bouncing on my knees - in no pain whatsoever!!!

First off.... CONGRATS!!! What I would like to say is at least the doctors caught this before sending him home and letting him get dehydrated!!! I know that sounds stupid but doctors dont really monitor patients like they are needed. Obviously that doctor is because he sent the baby to a different hospital for immediate help. I will say that my nephew had surgery 7 1/2 years ago at Riley and he did GREAT!!! He was only 14 days old but he was extrememly dehydrated because he had an extremly bad case of acid reflux... but he is doing great now... I hope everything works out like it has for my family... I know it is SCARY but this is prob a normal thing for the hospital... Good Luck and Congrats again... Keep us all updated... BTW... I am Megan if I have never talked to you... I used to be on here ALL the time.... but I have been REALLY BUSY!!!

Love and Prayers to Andy, you, and your family.  It is a scary thing to know that there is something wrong with your child.  My daughter Kara was born with a birth defect called TEF for short.  It to has to do with eating problems.  One day after she was born, she also had surgery.  And minus a few dialations she is okay.  She loves to hear the story of how she got to ride in the ambulance right after she came out of mommy's belly.  I would like to make one suggestion though, please have someone get your daughter a notebook to write everything each doctor says.  It is really confusing especially if you are not familiar with the terminology.  I am not sure what St. V's is like, but at Riley's Kara had attendings, students, fellows, and another one I can't think of at the moment.  And she had a group of each of these for each specialty.  So after I was so confused because one would tell me something, then the other would tell me the complete opposite.  So write the doctor's name by the comments he makes too.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou has done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
