I'm a little confused...

I just went through all of the 6 months stuff for MPlan insurance......they approved me for my surgery. I got a call from Clarian Bariatric Center today saying that I wouldn't be able to have my surgery until next year.....my MPlan runs out at the end of this year.  She asked if I'd have other insurance....which I will, but it'll probably be Advantage and I'd have to go to St. V's.  I think my surgeon goes there, but I've pretty much done everything to go to Clarian. I told her that I'd talked to Dr. Huse's office last week and Fran said that if I got everything in this month then I should be able to have surgery in Dec.  I told Sheryl that and she called and got me an appt. to see Dr. Huse Wed., Nov. 21st.  Then she said that the surgery in Dec. is pending on everything falling into place......I'm not quite sure how to take that.  I had to fill out the on-line registration and everything and Fran was supposed to call me back to confirm, but I haven't heard from her yet......probably will sometime today though. Thanks for letting me vent.  It's just so frustrating when they knew my insurance would run out by the end of the year.  Has anyone else had this happen? Candy

I know what you mean!! My insurance was supposed to change the first of the year too but as old as I am and my husband and I medications I couldnt afford to go a high deductable plan.. I am going to end up paying over 300. a month for my insurance. just because his medications would cost over 800. a month I do wish you the best getting your Christmas present early in Dec.. WLS was the best thing I ever did!!! Linda kay

Isn't this insurance stuff a pain?  We can't hardly live without it though, since everything is so high. I have alot of medications also and I'm not too good about remembering to take them sometimes.....actually alot of times.  We have MPlan through Chrysler, and of course we'll either have a choice between Anthem or Advantage.  My doctor's office won't accept Anthem anymore because they don't want to pay as much and I will have to go to a different hospital with Advantage or change doctors with it also.  We'll probably have to go with Advantage, because with Anthem we would have to pay all of our office calls and with Advantage we have a co-pay. Thanks for wishing me the early Christmas present.  I have got my appt. with Dr. Huse next Wed. and the bariatric center called to set up an appt. with the Psychiatrist after Dr. Huse's appt.  This surgery will be a revision for me.  I had VBG done 10 yrs. ago with Dr. Huse.  Hopefully I'll have my surgery date when I see him next week.   Candy

Wow, that is tough--have you considered trying a different surgeon? Will your approval from MPlan for WLS "transfer" over to Advantage or would you have to start all over with the approval process again?

I don't think it's my surgeon that is the problem, but I'm not sure.  I have an appt. to see him next Wed., so hopefully I'll find out then.  I'm not sure if the WLS will transfer to Advantage or not.....I'm not even sure if Advantage will cover WLS yet.  We've gotten very little information. The Clarian Bariatric Center did call me today to set up an appt. to talk to their Psychiatrist.  They had problems getting it scheduled in the computer, so they're supposed to call me tomorrow.  I think it'll be scheduled for Dec. 3rd though.  It seems like things are finally happening.....I hope! This surgery is a revision and I had Dr. Huse do it last time and people say it's better to have the same surgeon.....I don't know if it matters or not, but I do really like him.....so, hopefully things will work out with him.

Terri, Thanks for the prayers!  I got a call from the bariatric center today.  They wanted to set up my appt. to see the Psychiatrist after I see Dr. Huse next Wed.  They have an opening for Dec. 3rd.  They couldn't get the computer to schedule it for some reason, so they're going to call back tomorrow. I have to have some kind of plan after the surgery for it to work and I guess that's the reason for the appt.  It seems kind of weird after seeing the Psychologist 3 times for the insurance, but I guess it's part of it.  I'll keep you posted when I find out anything. When did you say your appts. are before your surgery? Candy

Hi Candy, My pre-op test is on next Wed. I go in entrance 1. I need to be there at 7:15. It'll take about 3 hours. At what time are you going to be there.  I would love to meet you. It would be cool if you get your surgery on the 3rd. Mine is on the 7th. It would be nice to have an other person to talk to about all of this. Please still keep me posted. Terri

Hi Terri, Are you going to St. V's or Clarian?  I'm going to Clarian, but my appt. with Dr. Huse isn't until 2:45......darn!  I have to help my mom get some food prepared before I go to my appt.....it takes me about an hour or so to get there from Kokomo.  I have my Psych evaluation on Dec. 3rd.  I wi**** was surgery.  I know that I will have to have my pre-op tests and I think I will have to go to a 4 hr. nutritional class too, but not sure.  Do you have a co-pay with MPlan?  I need to check.....I don't think I do, but not sure.  I have a feeling I won't get my surgery done until after yours....possibly the 2nd or 3rd week of Dec. if I can get everything done in time.  It would be neat to meet sometime, because our surgeries should be fairly close anyway.  Is yours going to be laproscopic surgery or open?  Mine has to be open because of it being a revision.

Hi Candy, I'm am going to St.V's. So we will keep on supporting each other by OH.  You have fun preparing a wonderful Thanksgiving diner.  I have to do the same thing. I must of misunderstood about your surgery date.  I had my Psych evaluation last April.  My nutritional class lasted all day. From 8:00 am to 4:00pm So much Info.  My insurance told me I had to pay $1000.00.  But I don't know if that's before surgery or after. I guess they'll let me know.  Good luck on your revision. I am having laproscopic surgery.  Keep me posted Terri
