Sounds like you may need a scope and maybe be dialated. But you may call your doc and see what they suggest. Is it possible your just eating too quickly?

I get the foamies also, never throw up food.  Make sure your chewing slowly and that it is really moist.  It happened to me a lot right around the same time frame you are at.  Trying new foods did it to me.  If it keeps up call the doc.  The foamies are normal for some of us.  My doctor said some can throw up food others just get the foamies.

the only pain with the scopes is maybe a LITTLE bit of a sore throat afterwards but they sedate you and do it and chances are you won't even remember. As far as dialation, sometimes the opening of the pouch can close up and they need to dialate it.

Missy,

Sometimes the stoma can close up some and cause a stricture. This is usually due to scar tissue. The stoma is where the intestines were connected to the pouch, With a scope (aka endoscope, endo), an IV is started. They insert drugs via the IV that you will think you are asleep. In reality, it's a very good 'can't remember a darn thing' combo drug. While you are in this state, the doctor will run a tube down your throat (remember, you know nothing about it when it's happening so no gagging or anything). At the end of this tubing is a tiny camera which allows the doctor to check out your pouch (for strictures, ulcers, etc). There is also what looks like a tiny balloon. If you have a stricture, this balloon inflates to slowly dilate you back open. The entire procedure takes maybe 15 minutes. If you have a stricture, you will go home feeling 100% better because the nausea will be gone when you eat. If you have to have 1 endo though for a stricture, they will probably want to do 1-2 more in the following weeks to ensure that your stoma doesn't start to close up again. The IV is usually the worse thing for me (I'm a hard stick). On a few occations, my throat was tender but usually, I just wanted to go home and nap the rest of the day. If the stats are the same as they were 3 years ago, 20% of post-ops will have to have at least 1 endo (usually 3 because of the follow-up ones). I was an oddball...with 15 of them. Good luck..and I hope you start to feel better! Sherri

Missy,

It's been a rough past 6 weeks for me. I wish I could joyfully say that I'm fine now, but I'd be lying. The worse is definately behind me, and that is saying alot. We are right now waiting for the swelling in my intestines to finish going away and for me to physically regain my strength. When both of those things happen, I will be having yet another surgery (the 6th since 9/25) to close up the opening in my stomach. I go back to see Dr. Gupta on 11/26. Hopefully, she will feel that I and my intestines are ready for the next step by then.  Trust me, I'd rather be told I had to have another endo...lol. If you need one, you'll see that they aren't anything to be afraid of.  Sherri
