I'm back!

It's so good to back among the living (and the high speed internet)!  I have dial-up at home and am to impatient to wait for pages to load.  Sorry if you tried to email me and my box was full.  It's empty now so send the messages again! I have so much I want to ask and share I'll never get it in one message!  I guess the two most pressing issues are: 1.  I get a swelling about the size of a large egg right under my left breast every time I eat.  It's not painful but it is uncomfortable.  It goes down about an hour after I eat.  Is this my stomach?  It seems like a strange place to me.  You can see the swelling through my shirts.  It's very strange. 2.  I need some ideas for protein.  I have become lactose intollerant.  I bought a few of the isopure but they are really nasty to me.  Any ideas on how to make them taste better?  Any other ideas?  I'm choking them down but would love to have another alternative. I'll be catching up on the posts over the next several days.  Welcome to all the new guys and congrats to the new  Hoosier Losers!  I can't believe I'm one now!  31.4 lbs gone so far and I'm only 2 weeks out tomorrow!  Whoo hooo! Smooches, Jacqui

I became lactose intolerant as well after surgery and still am 7.5 months out... I drink lactaid (lactose free milk) with 2 scoops of whey protein (wal mart special) some ice some sf cheesecake pudding and sf lemon jello as a shake it's 58 grams of protein i think and i think it's yummy... you might mess around with that... one half gallon i know is expensive but it lasted me all week...

as far as the swelling i don't know about that i didn't have that

Welcome back Jacqui :)  I am unsure bout the swelling might be something worth calling Marta about. JMO :)

I seem to tolerate chocolate soy milk from WalMart. I used www.unjury.com protein powder in everything.  Chicken flavored for making the instant potato and unflavored for everything else.  At 6.5 months out I am getting enough protein from  the fish and beans I eat. God Bless you and sometime I will share with you by Kairos weekend.  All I can say is Praise God and Choc.Chip cookies..... E

Welcome back Jacqui!

I buy the Whey Protein (chocolate flavor) at Walmart.  2 scoops with regular milk is 64 g of protein.  I dont know how much protein Soy milk has in it.  It is ok, but sometimes I have trouble getting it down.  I guess its the texture, I dont know.  But hopefully, when I am able to eat some foods I can get enough protein in that way.

As for your swelling, I would call the doctor's office and ask them.

Good luck!

Good to have you back.  You are doing fantabulous!!! I couldn't drink milk either.  I used Lactaid tablets and drank the Lactaid milk for the shakes.  I didn't have a problem with cottage cheese or yogurt or cheese but the tablets will help if you do. Your pouch should be up under the rib cage, not below your left breast.  It might just need some time to adjust but I agree with everyone else, tell the doc about it on the next visit unless it starts to hurt or move around.

Isopure can be hard to swallow.  Try putting a little Splenda in it and pouring it over crushed ice. Almost like a snocone.  I did that a few times until I got accustomed to the taste.  I liked the green and blue the best. I know it's a long drive but I really hope you can make it to the ornament exchange.  It would be so great to see you and Troy again. Take care of yourself and Keep up the Good Work.

Lord, keep me in your will so I won't be in your way.

Hey thanks everyone.  I've written down all the suggestions and will run to Evansville tonight and get some new stuff.

You guys ROCK!

Can't wait to hear about the Kairos weekend!  If you don't want to post it, my email address is [email protected].  I LOVE hearing how Jesus works through those weekends.  They are so amazing! Blessings, Jacqui
