Insurance question
I'm fairly new on here.....I've posted a couple of times, but it's been awhile. My question is: I have MPlan now, but at the end of the year, we won't have it anymore. We may possibly have Advantage - St. Vincent CMO in Kokomo. I know absolutely nothing about this insurance. I should have my surgery before MPlan runs out, but the Psychologist that we had to go to is being awfully slow about getting my report turned in, so I can start the process of pre-ops, surgeon appointment, etc. I'm just curious, in case that I can't have it before the end of the year. Supposedly the Psychologist was supposed to call in a "verbal okay" last Thursday and said she should have the written report ready to send in by this Monday. It's been about 4 weeks since I had my last appointment with her......I can't believe it takes this long.....except there were 13 in my group that have MPlan.....and she had to do the report for all of us. It's getting very frustrating!
I want to have Dr. Huse do the surgery because this will be a revision....my VBG was done in 1997. I know he used to be pretty busy.....I'm not sure what his schedule is now.
Any info anyone has about Advantage Insurance would be appreciated. Thanks. Candy
I don't really have any information for you but I just wanted to let ya know I'm rooting for you.
I think I would call and bug them again to see if they got the report and if not then call the psychologists office again and bug them. Maybe even explain that your insurance is changing and you'd like to have your surgery before it does.
Welcome to our board though! I hope someone else might have some insight for you.
Hi Shanna,
Thanks for writing me . I have been so upset on this MPlan thing.....mainly because I was almost done with the 6 month program when they told us they weren't going to insure us after the end of the year. I know what you mean about medications. That's why I'm having this surgery.....to get off them. It's actually a revisional surgery.....I had VBG 10 years ago. I've only gained about half of my weight back, but I never quite reached my goal and I have a lot more co-morbidites now. If I go with BCBS (which is an option) I will have to get a new PCP because American Health Network here in Howard Co. is going to quit taking patients with BCBS.....no matter how long you've gone there. Their costs have gone way up for the policies, but they want the doctors to take less money here......if I want to keep my PCP I have to change to Advantage insurance and go to a different hospital (even though it's quite a few miles farther than the one I go to now). It's like I told Misty.....it has been 4 weeks since I saw this Psychologist and she's taking her sweet time about getting my report turned in. She said she was going to call in a verbal okay last Thursday, but ended up being out of the office. She was also out Wed. & Fri. She didn't return my call today, so I'm sure she hasn't gotten it turned in yet. Have you had your surgery yet? I don't know about you.....but this insurance stuff is for the birds....lol. You have to have it, but it can really be a pain alot of the time. Candy
