Weather in Indy
I'm trying to get everyone's bags packed so we can head out when Troy gets home from work. Our daughter Luci is staying with my parents so I know what to pack for her. I get hot so easily though so I want to make sure I pack the right things for me. We also have a long drive back after I'm released and was wondering if some things worked better after surgery than others. I was thinking of packing a pair of knit pants with an elastic waist band for the trip home. Will the waste band be uncomfortable after surgery? Should I bring a dress instead? Hmmmm...
Any advice?
Thanks so much!
Jacqui
Jacqui,
I couldn't wear anything around my waist...even underwear! You will have a binder on, so have something really loose for the trip home. Also, a bra will be uncomfortable because one incision is right where your band sits. I still have trouble wearing a bra. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

I always said "pigs would fly" before they approved my surgery. Guess what??? The pigs are flying!!!!
Jacqui,
Haven't had much to update. I know I've lost weight, but don't have a scale yet..
My clothes are getting alot looser. I'm surprised daily at how well I'm doing (knock on wood). Just think, next week, you'll be on the loser's bench!!!!

Jacqui, A little tip I was told and used was...I wore a soft ribbed stretch tank top over my skin and then put my binder on over it and my nightie or clothes over that. It saves your skin from the irritation of the elastic binder and is soooo comfortable. I wore mine like this for the time I was home recovering, It also gave the "girls " some support and coverage since you wont be keeping them in the harness. :o) I basically wore my nighties at home and then comfy jeans and warm shirts to wear for walking when I was up to outside walking about a week out. Just plan on comfy and don't worry about what you are going to look like. I wore knit slacks and a roomy shirt home from the hospital....took a double hit of my liquid loratab and hugged my pillow till we got our little over an hour drive home done. You will be fine! I also found out why you couldn't get a room in Indy.....there is the largest convention that we get all year long going on this week and thru Saturday. The National FFA convention. You couldn't have picked a busier time! lol Good luck sweetie and you will soon be riding in the happy seat!
Hugs!

I wore sweats to and from the hospital. The elastic on my sweats was really wide and with the binder on I couldn't feel it. Forget the bra. Take slip on shoes or just wear the slipper socks they will give you. Remember you will probably still be wearing their compression stockings. I found a pillow came in handy to place between my belly and the seatbelt for the ride home.
Also remember, this is surgery. It's perfectly acceptable to wear your jammies or gown and a robe if that is more comfortable. It's all about being comfortable! I'll see you Saturday morning.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
Oooohhhh...good idea about the pillow! I'm packing it right now.
All of my gowns are 100 yrs old and not in very good shape. They seem to have windows in certain spaces so I probably won't do the gown thing. I do have this dress my sister gave me after her surgery 7 yrs ago and it has become my "house dress". It's purple and huge! Sort of a mumu type thingy. I just might bring it to wear home. Problem is with us, we have to stop every hour on the way home and walk. Don't want to scare the other drivers on I65! Heck I'll just pack everything and decide when it's time to come home.
Can't wait to see you again!
Jacqui
I packed all kinds of things so I was prepared but u arent there long enough to use anything.... I wore the hospital gowns and wore one outfit home. That was it. All the other things got carried in and carried back out...never used.
Time flies while u are there. U sleep eat walk and drink. Then before u know it they are kicking u out the door.....lol
