Surgery scheduled
Hello.
I am new to this board and am looking for any and all support I can get. I have my surgery schedulded for December 17th and am pretty nervous/scared. I don't know what to expect, how much pain will I be in, will I feel ok or like poo, etc. Am I strong enough to do othis... any thoughts or comments from people that have been there would be greatly appreciated! :)
Kelly
Hi Kelly. Welcome aboard. I just had my surgery on the 8th and I was scared too. We wouldn't be normal if we weren't. I had never had stitches or staples and even though I can tolerate pain I was afraid that I couldn't tolerate what I was about to go through. It really isn't that bad. I had a morphine drip and used it. Keep the binder on. Work hard on the fluids but don't force them either. I started them and couldn't do what they wanted me to drink. It came to be that I had a lot of swelling in my stomach than was normal-and I use that word but what is normal to one isn't normal to someone else. I finally got out of the hospital yesterday. I wouldn't change this for anything. I didn't use any pain medicine since Thursday. You will do great and your in the right spot for support for what is going to be the beginning of a whole new and wonderful life. Keep us posted and if you have any questions we are all right here for you anytime.
We are all here to talk things over. Don't forget that!
