Beginning to think Anthem has a conspiracy against me!!

Between NEVER answering my questions about what kind of documentation my doctor needs to submit (Anthem just kept telling me that the surgery would be covered if it was correctly documented, but would never tell me what kind of documentation was correct!!), being so incredibly VAGUE about what a medically supervised weight loss needs to include by only saying that what my doctor decides what medically supervised weight loss I should do, saying that what my doctor did for my medically supervised weight loss wasn't GOOD enough and NOW I find out that my paperwork requesting insurance approval of my WLS was faxed by Carmel Surgical Specialists to the Indianapolis Anthem office but that OHIO Anthem is doing INDIANA predetermination right now and that Indianapolis Anthem is taking a LONG time getting the paperwork to OHIO!  I SWEAR THEY ARE CONSPIRING AGAINST ME!!  Not really--but it sure does feel like they are doing EVERYTHING they possibly can to keep my from being approved!   I HATE insurance companies right now--although I am sure I will love them once they finally approve me!   Sorry for the venting, but had to get all that out!!

I know what you mean. My insurance now requires 12 months of dieting so I am having to keep the doctor thing going until jan. My insurance is in IL. so they have different rules.  I also feel its a conspiracy. I am just hoping my husbands company doens't decide to exclude it in 2008.  Robin

I think you should check with your insurance again--I am almost positive that even if an insurance is located in another state that they still have to follow Indiana's laws for the people they serve in Indiana.  And Indiana's law says insurances can only have six months of supervised weight loss.  Good luck!

When did the Indiana Law come about dealing with only six months?  I had to have 18 months of supervised weight loss!!!!!!

Holly , I think it was just in Jan of this yr.   I had mine in July of last yr and I had to have 18 months worth.
