Items to take to the hospital

I am trying to make a list of stuff I need to take. I think I have about everything.  I do have a question...I am one that does not go out of the house without doing my hair.  Will the hospital let you use a curling iron and or blow dryer?  I wished my hair was a little longer so I could just put it up and it would look ok, but its not and I dont want to have medusa hair.  Are you allowed to take a shower (will I need shampoo)? Jenny, I was able to shower & shampoo the next day (even the next day after my latest round). I'm not sure if they'd have a problem with the electronics...or if there's plug-ins. go ahead and throw them in your bag. I really doubt that they are a deal-breaker, right? I mean, if you're told that you have to wait till you get home to use your blow drier, would you cancel your surgery? Nope, didn't think so. You will probably find though that this is one time that you aren't going to mind at all if the public sees you in a wash & go do. Sherri

Yes, it is getting closer.  This week has went a lot faster then I thought.  I guess, I have been running around work trying to teach my assistant director how to do things such as write checks and do payroll before I am gone.  This weekend will probably go slow for me though because I really dont have anything going on.  Maybe that will be a good time to clean the house really well.   You dont have much longer either.  Are you getting excited? I was given a list of things to bring when I had my last class. They told me to take lip balm or chapstick, a robe, toothbrush and toothpaste (they have Colgate and some people don't like it) my breathing thing they gave me, my c-pap and stuff like that. I wouldn't worry about your hair either but then mine is only about 2 inches long (my personality changes when it gets long-yes I can get strange at times lol) so I really don't have to worry about it except for it sticking up! I am not going to worry about it because I figure they don't expect you to look the best after surgery anyway. This week-end may go by faster than you think. I have to pack this week-end because I go Monday-OOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKK-I am ready!!!!!

(walking) (sipping).....that about does it..except for brushing the teeth...shower...they give you non skid slippers to wear when walking so don't even need those...I walked in gown with another gown as a robe  ..or you can take a robe...everyone looks the same...lol  like they asked in the discharge class...which one got hit by the dodge?  ford? chevy?  LOL I did take toothbrush , paste, deodorant, hair brush, shampoo, and perfume. Made me feel good!  Hubby DID take his laptop..and it did work...no one said a word about him using it so I really doubt then will mind if you use the hair dryer. hugs Janene

Don't forget to take a list of IMPORTANT PHONE NUMBERS!!! That way your family members will know who to call, and what name to use! LOL  I have printed off a copy of the Hoosiers Losers Directory, and highlighted several names and numbers on it, so when my time comes, my DH will know who to call!  And also, that way he will have a list for himself, and I won't have to worry about the list if he loses it. I can always print off more!
