Approval decision referred to health management?

I spoke with my case nurse at Tricare today and she told me that she is referring my file to the higher ups. She said I have so many co-morbidities that she didn't want to make the decision. Ugh! She's so nice-so I didn't scream "' I wouldn't want to put myself through this if I didn't have co-morbidities!" I sure wanted to, though. Now I"m afraid I'm too sick for life saving surgery. This bums me out. She said I should know within 48 hours. Is this common? Not giving up the fight, Angie

I am sorry that you are bummed--that is too bad.  I guess I don't understand why insurance companies think THEY know better than a surgeon or doctor who have seen you if you are healthy enough to have WLS!?!?!   I would be frustrated too--but at least you will know soon!! Best wishes!
