Quick question...
Lisa,
I'm not a nurse but have had a few surgeries....and a tat.
They generally want your nails to be free of polish. The oxygen monitor works best if the nails are nude & natural.
As to the tat, surgically, you'd be best off not to introduce anything to your body that could be irritated at all when your surgery date arrives. As a post-op, I'd wait until you lose the weight, see where your lose skin places are (& do any 'corrections' and then have any tat you want (after your plastic surgeon gives you a thumb up). I have a tat that will most likely have to go bye-bye when I get my girls done.

No nail polish in surgery, fake nails are probably fine as long as they are not that long (cant get the pulse ox over them). The tat depends on where, def not on stomach. Seems to me (just my opinion) that birthdays just mean you're getting older, I'd wait for the tat for a real celebration like hitting your first weight goal. Don't forget that your skin will change after you start losing weight and your tat may not look right after that either. Just my two cents, party on girl...Mick
