OK, I have done really well not drinking my coffee and drinking decaf. instead, but today I just couldn't stand it. I woke up so tired that I just had to have a little high octane. I am also fighting the urge to nibble between meals and I am only 3 1/2 months out. I need somone constantly watching over my shoulder! Sherri, why so many procedures? Please tell me that is abnormal and not something I have to look forward to.

I have to confess, I'm bad,  I drink a cup of regular coffee each day.  But, I drink 2 extra bottles of water to make up for it.  Coffee, regular or decaf, makes me want to eat.  To curb those cravings I keep celery on hand to chew or will drink a glass of milk.  It helps be get past the head hunger.  Find what works for you.

HI...i too fight the caffeine demon. I now drink my coffee half reg and half decaf. This works for me...I still get the zing of caffeine without all the bad side effects. You might try this, plus keep sipping h2o....DEB

Yep, I'm abnormal! LOL! About 20% of post-op patients (that was the stats 3 yrs ago anyway) have to have 2-3 endo's because of either a stricture or ulcer. There are a few of us oddballs though that have to have multiple ones. Mine was mainly due to my stoma kept growing scar tissue and closing up. The revision was because when they would stretch the stoma back open, it would rip (perforate) because the tissue was getting so brittle (so that had to remove the tissue that was brittle). The internal hernia's (aka Kinky Bowel Syndrome) used to be alot more common than it is now. I think the surgeons are trying to put in a few well-placed stitched when they do your WLS to omit this from happening. KBS usually occurs at ~12-18 months..if it's going to happen at all. We joke around about how I can't do anything without having oddball complications happening! This held true even with hitting menopause! LOL!!! Be careful drinking the full-lead coffee. Guess what caused one of my ulcers?!?!? (citric acid from ketup caused the 2nd one) Also, caffiene is a stimulant...so it stimulates your appetite. It's not surprising at all that you are getting munchies. Get back to decaf. You should see an improvement. Also, when you 'munch', make it a protein munch...string cheese is an excellent choice. The protein will keep you satisfied for a longer period. Sherri
