October 3rd date at St Vincent Carmel
I know where Sweetzer is! Isn't Sweetzer's claim to fame that the longest basketball game was played there? It seems like I remember seeing that on a big billboard once. It's been a very long time since I've been to Marion. As a teenager, we sometimes went there to cruise around the the square. You've helped me to bring back some old memories that I had forgotten about! I am having my lap band surgery at the Indiana Surgery Center in Noblesville. I had my gall bladder removed four years ago, and that surgery was at St. V Carmel. Everyone there was very nice, and I had a good experience there. My husband had shoulder surgery about 6 years ago at St. V Carmel, and he had a good experience too. I've told my family and a few close friends. My 4 1/2 year old son is disabled, and he has home health nurses who help us with his care. Because his nurses are all such a vital part of my overall support system and are so intertwined into our family, I have told them about the surgery. My son had an upper GI scope on Friday with his pediatric GI doctor, and I mentioned my upcoming surgery to her. She was congratulatory and very supportive. Before I told her, I sort of held my breath fearing that she might give me a laundry list of the reasons why I shouldn't have the surgery, but her reaction was the exact opposite. Given that she has a reputation for being a great doctor and her knowledge and experience from a GI standpoint, I was so glad to hear her encouragement and support! I'm not sure how I'll feel about telling others. Once people start noticing that I've lost weight and they ask me how I've done it, I will probably be more willing to share my story. Partially because sharing my story allows me to talk about my son who inspires and motivates me. Leslie
