I am approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited.....I have waited to hear those words for NINE LONG months (though I know there are many out there that have waited longer). I went to St. V's for the seminar three weeks ago and something got screwed up with my insurance and they said that I was not going to be covered AT ALL...but my hubby and I fought it alongside his work and came out on top. The insurance companey screwed up the contract and didnt leave it the way they wanted it...so they had to rechange the contract so that BS would be a covered option. Well they resubmitted everything the day after the St. Vs seminar (without my knowledge lol Thank goodness) the info submitted was everything they had already looked over plus my supervised weightloss from a physician. Well I called yesterday and the Rep said "It is" I had to ask "Its is, WHAT" I was waiting for "It is ...not" LOL Then she went and varified for me and I told her I was gonna jump through the phone and kiss her lol...I am still walking in cloud nine! Now to get down to business...can anyone lay out the basic procedure to surgery? Including when I get a date ( I should be recieving my approval letter next week), all of my appointments up to surgery and what they are, things I need to buy, shakes I should try...I want to make sure I am READY as ready as can be lol.  YAY!!!! Thanks for all the support!!!!! Lisa K.

Congrats, Lisa!!!!  So happy for you! It is an awesome feeling to hear those words!!!  Just listen to your doctor, and ask all the questions, and you will be there in no time at all! I am glad that you fought for what you knew was right! It makes you feel so good! As far as the procedures, since I am still in the "waiting" process....for my date that is........I don't know what to tell you, other than don't stress out over the length of time you may still have to wait. That is depending on your Doctor. Just take it easy, the fun is only beginning! LOL

Lisa, Congrats!! I know that ANY waiting can be hard so I'm glad your long wait is over. After Dr. Jone's office gets the written letter of approval, you'll get a call from their scheduler (this may take 1-3 weeks...give them a week, then start calling regularly). It all depends on how backed up Dr. Jones is on how soon your surgery will be. She's a lady in high demand. When I had mine, the wait for her was ~3-4 months. They gave me the option of switching to Dr. Gupta and having it in a month. I have never regretted saying yes. once you have your date, you'll get scheduled for a pre-op testing and for a nutrition class. Both are most of the day activities. At the nutrition class, you'll be given the information about your vitamins and protein. They have their own little mix they prefer you to try first. Do NOT try it pre-op. Your taste buds change with this surgery. What may taste good pre-op may taste like crap afterward and visa-versa. If you buy any protein drinks (which I would not suggest to any newbie to do without the approval & guidance of their dietician), only buy 1 of which-ever so you aren't stuck with alot of stuff you don't like. Once you get further out, many of us have our favorites and can offer suggestions then. But again, I'd only buy 1 until you know how your taste buds are going to be. You'll know more on what to shop for after your nut class...and you'll have the time to do it. Sherri

Yay for you!  You will soon have a date.  I called my insurance company to have them fax the approval letter to me.  When I got the letter, I then faxed it to Amy at Dr. Gupta's office.  It took them 2 weeks from their to call me with my date.  Seemed like 2 months though.  Trust me, dont call them because they wont answer the phone and they wont return your call if it is just to check the status of your date.

OMG THATS GREAT NEWS, Faith! I can only speak for my experience. I am having surgery on the 27th of Sept. Doc Huse contacted me within 1 day of approval to get a date...but I know that is unusual.  DO NOT go out and buy anything before surgery. I went to the Nutrition class (NUT class) yesterday and they tell you EVERYTHING and also give you a grocery list to get before surgery so u will have when u get home. Like Sherri said, stick to what the dietician and your doc says...then when can eat a bit more variety...take all the suggestions you can get from these wonderful people on this forum, I like to call them my "Indiana Posse"  lol Congrats again

Lord, keep me in your will so I won't be in your way.

Good News.  You will love Dr. Jones she has a great smile and comforting look. You will be ready.  Just stand back and watch it happen.  What we can eat may not be what you can.  Don't go buying this protein and that protein.  Wait until the surgery and see what the Dr. and nut want you to get.  For all we know something new is out by that time.  I love the liquid calcium from CVS on line some others don't Remember at 2 ounces a meal a SMALL box of instant potatoes last FOREVER.  1 can of Cream soup can't be eaten in a week.  So get out of the warehouse club shopping sprees. God Bless you E
