No more MPlan

Did y'all see the newspaper Saturday?   MPlan is no longer going to be in the HMO business.  They will complete any contracts they have with employers but will not be offering insurance coverage when the contracts expire.  For me that means no more MPlan after Dec 31st.   There go my insurance rates again!   Also, what about the transfer of coverage for after care?  What happens to those folks in the middle of their approval/journey?

So many questions...

I THINK BCBS IS GOING TO REPLACE MPLAN IF SO THEN YOU WILL HAVE SAME CHANCES OF APPROVALS FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND . I KNOW BCBS IS EASY TO GET APPROVED IF YOU HAVE IT ALL IN ORDER . LESS THEN 2 WEEKS MOST OF THE TIME VICKI

Actually, my mom heard that on the news Fri. night.  I wasn't home and didn't hear it until she called Sat. morn.  We got our letter from MPlan today - did you?  I'm not sure when our contract expires.  My last insurance card was issued Dec. 21, 2005, but when I looked up all of the material they first sent me, it was mailed in March, 2003.  I think that Chrysler's contract will run out in March, but not sure.  I asked my husband to find out, but he hasn't done it yet.  I know we'll get a letter from Chrysler one of these days. Chrysler's main insurance is Anthem (BC/BS),  but we switched when they offered the alternative because I've had so many doc appts. with diabetes, etc. and the office calls were alot cheaper. So, you've got it when you said "there go my insurance rates again!"  That is the only good thing about MPlan.  I'm hoping that I get all of my stuff approved and surgery done before it runs out - especially if it's in Dec. instead of March.  I didn't have much trouble with Anthem when I had the VBG 10 years ago, but I know that things change.

I've also been hoping and praying that when Chrysler changes their health coverage (and they will) after the contract expires this coming Fri. that it won't change things right away.   Like you said - so many questions....
