Question about nut class

I received my paperwork regarding my 6 hr nut class.  It asked on one of the papers if I have attended a St. V's support group?  Is this a requirement, do I need to do this, because nobody ever told me anything about it or to schedule one?

Also, it says something about a physical and list 2 docs names, but says if you were not scheduled then your surgeon will do the physical the morning of your surgery.  How come not everyone is scheduled for a physical, I was never told anything about a physical either.

Some doctors or insurance companies require that you attend a support group meeting. You can try and look for one in your area.  I wasn't required that I attend a support group but I chose to and I'm glad I did. :) Of course I've only been able to go once and I was pre op then sooo I can't wait to go back in and see everyone at the next meeting. I missed the last one because I was put in the hospital again. Sooo we will see.

As far as the physical I have no clue? It's probally an insurance thing or something

if i were u i would call ur dr and ask to make sure--i was required a physical by a dr at st vinncent prior to surgery -i didnt go to support group i wrote this web site down as my support but id call to double check --that way u dont jepordize anything---good luck

A support group will help you stay on course.  It is important to share with others the good and bad and realize we all need others to help.  Get involved wherever you can.

Hey Jenny~ I got my paperwork too...but Doc Huse gave me a list of 4 docs to schedule a physical with ...sooo pre-op is first then physical all on the same day. So nut class is the 13th (ALL DAY) and pre-op is the 18th (ALL DAY).  I am using this website as the support group. No one ever told me I had to have a support group meeting in before surgery....and they have been real good about teling me what I DO need. Hang in there...let me know... Janene

No physical for me either.  I had my nutrition class on Friday.  I think Dr. Gupta must do it the day of surgery.   I was kind of worried about that too, but no one has said anything... Also the support groups are not required (unless the psych makes you go), just recommended.  There is one tomorrow night at 7 at St. V's.  I've been to 4 (the psych said I had to) and have gotten a lot of interesting information from them and met many interesting people.
