consultation
My initial consult was Sept 17 of 2005. If I remember correctly we had to be there at 7:30 or 8 am and did a lot of sitting and waiting. There were still papers to be filled out even though I had competed the packet they sent to me. They take everyone back, one by one and do pre-op pictures, weights and measurments. After that is all done. (after lunch) the surgeon came in to talk. When he finished we each had a chance to meet with him individualy. I think we were done around 3PM. This may vary by the number of people that are there and the surgeon doing the presentation. Good luck. It is the beginning of a wonderful new life.
My consult was June 7th @ 1:00pm. I took the finished packet I was sent...they took me back to take before pics and then consult. I went to see Doc Huse after for my one on one visit (I was first) and I was out of there by 3:15pm. So depending on how many will be in your group...and when you talk to doc if you are going to...try 2 - 3 hours.
Lord, keep me in your will so I won't be in your way.

My initial consult was on Aug 2. at 4:30 pm. I got there gave them my packet and they went ahead and took me back and done my weight and measurements. Then sent me back out to sit and wait on them to do all the other people. There were probably about 7 people in my group.
After everyone had been measured and weighed we all went as a group to the conference room and listened to a nutritionist for a little while then the surgeon came in and described both procedures (lap-band & RNY). Then after, if you wanted to move forward they put you in a room to have a one on one consult with the surgeon (you are charged for this consult with the surgeon) They will bill your insurance. I think I left around 7:30 pm and I did meet with the surgeon.
It really isnt bad.
Who is your surgeon?

Well I think people have described it pretty well. I just wanted to say to you this: if you don't feel comfortable or confident with your doctor at the consultation, wait! Schedule another consultation with a different doctor. I went to three before I found the surgeon I wanted. Maybe I'm just picky, but I didn't want to have any concerns about the person who would have my life in her hands. You know? Good luck, with starting the journey!
