I am in need of some information please....... I purchased some Biotin as I have been told that it will help with my thinning hair. However, on the bottle it says"an essential B vitamin that is involved in the intermediate metabolism of carbohydrates. Also assists in protein and fat metabolism for energy use and supports healthy skin and hair".  Sooooo, the way I take it, it will not only help my hair but also help burn carbs and fat????  What do you think?    Also, I am about 1 1/2 years out, will there be any problem taking this along with my other vitamins? Thanks for the info!!!!!!!! Hugs Claudette

Claudette, I've taken Biotin daily since I was about 6 months out (~3 yrs out now). As long as I keep having surgeries, I'll keep taking it. My hair loss was alot less after my surgeries since I'd been taking it than it was with my RNY. I haven't had any negative effects that I can tell. I do make sure I only buy the tablets since capsules do no good for me at all (my body thinks capsules is fiber..lol). I also usually get 1000 mcg tablets. As far as metabolism...I haven't got a clue since I have been taking them regularly since early out.  I don't know if you  noticed, but I always recommend pre-ops to start taking biotin asap. I don't know why the nuts wait until AFTER you have this mass exedus of hair before saying 'oh yeah, biotin will help that'...???? If they'd take it ahead of time, they'd lose alot less than if they didn't. Sherri
