Anyone use Dr. Diaz?

I'm new here...went for first visit Aug 1 to see Dr. RoseMarie Jones, but then she told me she doesn't do lap band. She then had me see Dr. Diaz who's in her office too.  He seemed okay, but I didn't fall in love with him or anything.  I don't find much info about him on the internet.  I'm starting to get nervous...has anyone out there used him for lap band?

I DIDNT HAVE HIM FOR LAP BAND  BUT HE DID MY RNY. I LIKE HIM HE IS VERY STRIGHT FORWARD AND ONCE YOU SEE HIM A COUPLE TIMES HE IS WONDERFUL. HE DID MY SURGERY ON APRIL 23RD (4 MONTHS AGO) AND I HAVE LOST 110 POUND. JUST DO WHAT HE TEELS YOU AND YOU WILL HAVE A  GREAT LOSS. Wow! You are doing great!! Thank you for the info...it just seemed strange that I couldn't find much info on here about him.  Keep up the good work...you'll be wearing a size 10 in no time! 

Hi,  Welcome, you might want to check with JoMac ,as she had one. Although,right now she is in "BABY MODE" so might not get right back to you. Also, there is a site on here you can check. I personally chose to have a RUNY, and my girlfriend had herRUNY by him 3 yrs. ago, & is doing great, so I don't have any lap-band advice, but can say she thinks he's great. I didn't have Dr. Diaz as my surgeon but I've seen him a couple times since (once for my post op appointment) and I didn't care much for him then BUT when he admitted me and came and visited me in the hospital this past weekend I realized that he must have just been having a bad day when I seen him. He was awesome though and really caring and nice.

Dr. Diaz is going to do my surgery on October 26.  I've only met with him once but I really liked him.  He was really concerned about me doing a lap band because of my hormone problems.  He said I wouldn't see the health benefits I want with a lapband.  I really appreciated his thoughts because I'm not doing this just to lose weight.  I have had tons of problems with my hormones since birth and was told the extra weight contributed to the problems and the hormone problems contributed to the extra weight.  Catch 22.  He explained all this to me again and recommended the gastric by-pass for me.  He's the doc so I trust he knows what he's talking about so that's what I'm having. I took my 6 yr old daughter with me to my consult and he was very friendly to her.  That means a lot to me too.  He joked around with her and even said he has a child around her age. There are some patients on OH that have had him as their surgeon but they are in the Florida Forum.  He moved here from Florida and has a lot of experience with the surgeries.   I like him and am glad he's my surgeon.   Hope this helps you some. By-the-way, I live in Rockport, just about an hour south of French Lick.  I love the resort there.  I haven't made it to the West Baden Resort yet but have gone to several business meetings at the French Lick Resort.  It's lovely! Thanks so much for the info.  I do have a question though...why is your surgery not for 2 months?  Is that how far out they book surgery's?  How long after your approval from insurance was that?  That seems so long...I don't want to wait that long!  Good luck with everything! 

The scheduler called me about 4 days after my insurance approved the surgery.  She offered me September 11 but that didn't fit into my work schedule.  There's no way I could get everything in order  by then.  When I told her that she said, "Well you can pick any date after September 11 because he's pretty much open after that."  I picked October 26 to fit into my work and church schedule.  It also works out for my husband's work schedule.  I hate it that I have to wait until then but we (dh and I) had already decided it would need to be late October.  Oh well...after waiting 4 yrs for the surgery, a few months more isn't going to hurt. Keep us posted on your schedule though!  You could possibly have your surgery before me! Blessings,  Jacqui
