My temp went sky high to the point of the shakes so bad my mom and all panicked about my eyes rolling back and stuff when I was sleeping. I didn't have time to grab my phone book or anything to call anyone. My PICC did get infected and the infection had spread into my blood, and soo all day Sunday and yesterday they kept me half way secluded because they aren't sure what type of infection it was. We are still waiting on the blood cultures to come back but since i am on antibiotics and my fever had been broke for 24 hours the let me go this afternoon. They ended up moving my PICC line into my left arm and we're hoping that it will stay okay. We did everything we were supposed to and my doc said sometimes they just get infected, your body sees them as a foreign object. Saturday evening was touchy though and we couldn't get the fever under 103 or anything. Overall I'm feeling so so .. Really tired today. I have had constant nausea since surgery and soo this morning my surgeon did an endoscopy procedure to make sure I don't have a stricture or anything. IT turns out my pain/nausea are from an ulcer. Sooooo right now I'm just doing really BLAH. I've been super dehydrated and everything. I'm still on really strong antibiotics and was told to try not to be out in public a whole lot because I'm toooo prone to infection and with the PICC being inside your vein it can spread tooo quickly.

I'm just glad that we have an answer and I'm not one of those patients who have nausea for no reason. It is good now that we KNOW whats going on and can treat it. Now I just hope this new PICC line will stay infection free.
