Bad Pre-op test results

I just finished the last of my pre-op tests and a bag of nerves now. I had the thyroid and test for stomach acids (instead of upper GI) and found out I have ulcer acid but not the actual ulcers yet. I have started the 14 dyas of antibiotics to get rif of that. I had my EKG, EEG, Pulmonary, and nuclear stress tests. I failed part of those and now am scheduled for Heart Cath on the 22nd.  I am thankful that these problems have been found and for the most part have caught things before they could have gotten worse, but scared that I did not care enough to take better care of myself before now! I still have two kids to raise and a grandbaby on the way!  Has anyone else had health issues discovered during these tests?

The ulcer acid is not uncommon and usually does not delay the surgery.  The other problems are things that can be corrected either prior to or by the surgery.  Don't sweat it.

My pre-ops found a badly diseased gallbladder.  The doc removed it at the same time as my RNY.  So things always work out for the best.

Blessings,

Annette

When my step-dad had his pre-op testing, they found something up with his heart too. They did the cath and all was well. He had the surgery as scheduled. Don't beat yourself up over your past poor health habits. You're taking the steps to improve your health and THAT is what matters! Congrats on getting through this portion of your journey. If there is anything any of us can do to help, please don't hesitate to let us know. Sherri
