Fair Food! Remeber when we would have ate our Fill!
E,
I didn't grow up going to the fair, but to the Little Italy Festival in Clinton. I always, always bought bags of Rossettes. They were like little elephant ears....very light....very fluffy. They were sprinkled in powder sugar and you bought them by the dozen. I would sit and easily eat 3 dozen of them by myself. That was usually after pigging out on a gyro or Italian sausage, a plateful of fried onions, and a lemon shake-up to wa**** all down with. When we would go to the races, I ALWAYS had at least one bag of cotton candy!
Now? That sugary-sweet stuff makes me a little nauseated just smelling it. At amusement parks, Bill and I might would split a small popcorn (hold the butter if we have a choice) or a polish sausage (instead of me eating two of them by myself!). I stick to water with crystal light. I'm a cheap date at amusement parks food-wise...lol. I also keep sf cookies and sf popcycles in the RV....for my 'sweet' tooth!

My husband, best friend and my 3 yr old son went to the fair Saturday and it was a great day for it! My favorite fair food is definitely the roasted corn ears (with lots and lots of butter) and the gyros, closely followed by funnel cakes. I am scheduled for the DS on Oct. 3 and she is scheduled for the DS in January and we were talking about our diet next year at the fair. We will both be far enough out that we should still be able to have all of our favorites (granted not NEARLY the quantities we ate last Saturday) but the great thing about the DS is we can still have some of it all, and it is perfectly acceptable and ok, actually recommendended for us. The gyros have tons of protein, and since we malabsorb 80% of the fat we ingest, the rest will be ok, too. Since the body needs fat in the first place to function properly, and because we malabsorb so much of it, we can eat higher amounts of fats and still be A-OK and won't have to feel deprived or cheated. (Plus our cholesterol won't go up from it!) Another DS friend went to the fair and had all of her favorites ( just in smaller quantities than pre-WLS) had no problems and STILL lost 3lbs over the weekend.
Sorry, a little off topic there, but the gist of it is... gimme corn, gyros, funnel cakes and ice cream at the fair!! But I think I'll pass on the deep-fried Pepsi, both before AND after WLS!!
