Hot Beef Sundae, which they describe as “comfort food at its finest”:

“….a bowl generously filled with buttery mashed potatoes surrounded by slow-roasted, fork-tender roast beef topped with savory beef gravy, sprinkled with cheddar cheese and finished with a ripe red cherry tomato.” Doesn't even sound good now.  Maybe I did have brain surgery not gastric? God is good to the faithful E

I love the food porn subject. I'm a funnel cake junkie myself.  Although I would describe myself as a purist - just powdered sugar please.  I also like them topped with cherries and/or hot fudge. Yum!   What memories!   Now, I just sneak a pinch off of DH's. Anyone else have a favorite "fair food porn" entry?

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...

Ok Annette....My food porn confessions.........Sal****er Taffy (I have a box I now treat myself with that hubby brought home from the fair) Pineapple ice cream...Simply the best and ..........I LOVE Elephant ears!! Love, Adore, and totally obsessed with them! Every year I would get one have it put in a bag and then sit back on the shuttle and tear off pieces to eat!! Ah....I love that! Actually....my hubby drives one of the shuttles and I did tell him to bring me one home so I can nibble on it for a week! lol ( I am still waiting for it!! ) We always went together for the day and then ate our tenderloins and then I shopped and he drove the shuttle till I got tired and then rode the rest of the night. I had hoped to go this year but....still so close from surgery that I think staying all night on the shuttle ride with the bumps might be a bit much so ...for the most part I have passed on going this year. oh well.....gotta go get my taffy now! lol Hugs! Well, I haven't had my surgery yet, but I also haven't had fair food in over five years--can't handle the walking involved  so I don't suppose I will ever have my favorite fair foods again.  But my favorites were the fried vegetables and fried cheese sticks.  OH!  And the lemon shakeups!  And elephant ears--oh I love elephant ears!  Also the BIG dill pickles--which I guess I will still be able to have, but it might take me a week to eat a whole one!!

You are right E, God is good to the faithful and has ways to put us into misery when we are tempted by our past eating desires. I guess my food that no longer gives me any desire was Glazed Donuts which I could easily sit and eat a half dozen or more for breakfast or a night time snack.  Now it is poached eggs and wheat toast and I am just as satisfied. I look at all those old food habits and when I even think about them I say Satan Get Behind Me. Dan

Dan, I just had to reply to this post!  My mom is always saying that for whatever reason, and I know you weren't kidding, but it made me laugh right out loud.  Now anytime foods are calling my name that I know I'm not supposed to have, I'm going to say Satan get behind me.  LOL.  Thanks for the tip!! Kim OH, and PS...  I doubt you remember this, but a while back I asked for prayers for my mom, something I don't feel I can do very well, so I needed help.  Anyway, the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with her and were going back and forth between MS and Lupus, and then in the middle of it all she lost her job and therefore insurance.  she has lost pretty much all feeling from the waist down as well as her hands, arms and across her shoulders.  After going through this for months, they are now saying that she has two vertebrae in her neck that are severely out of whack and cutting off the flow of fluid in her spinal column.  They think they can make her better with surgery, which they have scheduled for August 31st, the last day of her insurance coverage.  So we're so relieved it isn't the MS, and I wanted to let you know and say thanks (you put her on your prayer list, i remember).  Feel free to add her again on the 31st if you don't mind, but I wanted to let you know that yours and others prayers have worked for her.  So again, thanks!

Doing a study of the book of Jonah tp prepare for my mens group.  Oh I pray to be as faithful. One thing about Christians is " If we are meeting we are eating"  A real enabler for the unprepared. I laughed when I read in Jonah "A egg white has no flavor"  AMEN AMEN AMEN. TGBTG To God Be The Glory. E

I remember one summer I interned at the State Fair.  All summer long we waited with anticipation for the actual fair so that we could enjoy the fair foods.  The first day, I had to cover the band day events (I was writing press releases for the media relations building).  Ate LOTS of fair food, and got sun poisoning for being out all day.  I spent the evening until about 1am writing up my press releases and getting up every 10 minutes to throw up I was so sick.  I *think* it was the sun poisoning, but all the fair food probably didn't help.  I remember that year throughout the two weeks getting bagels and cream cheese for breakfast from the milk people, pork chops from just outside the swine barn, and lamb chops from the lamb people.  And I LOVE funnel cakes the best.  OMG.  Sooo good.  i went to a place this summer that had fair type food, and it was after my surgery.  I did find one vendor selling Elk burgers and sweet potatos.  I debated about which to try (I think I was still on just 2 oz a meal) and decided to go with a sweet potato.  I left off all the marshmallows and whatnot, but added a bit of butter, some cinnamon and nutmeg.  I mean, it ain't a deep fried snickers bar, but it was pretty good!   Kim
