Pre-op tests
My insurance company paid for all the pre-op testing as a part of the surgery. It included drawing seven or eight vials of blood, a pulmonary function test, gallbladder ultrasound, upper GI, chest x-ray and ekg. It took an entire morning, but was well worth it as it showed a diseased gallbladder that was able to be removed at the time of the RNY ( a two-fer bargain). The GB removal was done without having to pay an additional co-pay and no additional surgery at a later date.
The upper GI (barium drink) is the worst part...but not so bad considering the goal in mind.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...

I just did all my tests this week and found out they can do a blood test rather than the upper GI to get the same results. Lucky me...I have the ulcer producing acids, but no actual ulcers! They have me on a 14 day prev pak to alliviate the acids and then I am cleared on that test.
