I need help from Dr Gupta's patients

I met with Dr Gupta last week but she didnt say anything about whether I had to do a liquid diet pre-o*****t. Maybe this is something that will be discussed in the 6-8 hour nut counseling appt.   She never said if you are to lose any weight pre-op either.  Can anyone tell me what she expects? Also, I net with her briefly right after the info session, will I meet with her again before my surgery or not? Jenny

I didn't have Dr. Gupta, but I don't believe any of the St. V surgeons require certain weight loss before surgery. I would try to lose any you can though, that just puts you ahead of the game, and could make it easier for the surgeon. I have heard it helps shrink the liver, which makes it easier to get to the stomach. I was only able to lose 11 pounds pre-op though. The liquid diet is just the night before surgery, and they will explain that at the pre-op class. All the patients attend the same class for their type of surgery, so I think it would be the same.

Jenny, Dr. Gupta didn't require me to lose any pre-op (but I had lost 8 lb anyway). The day before, I had a regular breakfast, light lunch, and liquid dinner. No, I didn't meet with Dr. Gupta again pre-op. Sherri
