Thanks for the reassurance. I know with the good lord watching over me I will be fine. I have been counting down the days for a long time and am just so excited and proud of myself for coming this far. I looking forward to being on that losing side.

Dear Friend I believe you have yourself well covered in preparing for surgery knowing that the Lord will be watching over you.  I know when I had my surgery, I total peace about it, knowing that God was there with me and the surgical team. I will add you to our prayer list for Monday as we pray for you, Dr Diaz, and the medical team that you have a very uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery.  God will do His part, and then you have to do yours by following the instructions after surgery. God Bless Dan

If you have a prayer request whether WLS or personal, please visit our website at www.packardministries.org and click on PRAYER or email me at [email protected]

You will  be added to our daily prayers.   One of our ministry objectives is to support those having or had WLS.   Pastor Dan

Let's see...pain... At the worst it was comparable to taking a cheap laxative and having the resulting gas/cramps. My pain only lasted for a day or two.  I didn't want to take the liquid pain killer (narcotic) because I wanted to be able to drive as soon as possible.  But I dumped (big time) on liquid Tylenol.  So I opted to tough it out.  It really wasn't bad.  I probably would have only taken the tylenol for another day or two.

The hospital sent me home with a binder that really came in handy.  Especially for laying down to sleep.  You may find yourself more comfortable in a recliner for the first few nights as laying flat can be a pain.  Literally. Best wishes.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...

OK honestly, when I first tried to move after waking from surgery I asked them if they got the plate number of the Mack truck that ran over me. BUT each time I got up an moved it got easier.  I had my surgery on Tues morning and by Saturday I was walking a mile 3 times a day on my treadmill. I also took very little of the pain meds they gave me because I don't like the way they make me feel.  I'd rather know how my pain is than cover it up.  Annette is right about the band, they probably told you about it in your pre-op class.  It helps a lot.  I also slept in a recliner for about a week.  It made getting up and down so much easier.  I always slept on my side before (snoring) and that jsut won't work after surgery for a while.  You'll do great though. The staff at St. V is the best.   Good Luck!

The worst pain I had was right after surgery in my shoulders and upper back. I found out later this was due to the gas they fill your abdomen with so they can get around. I felt better the very next day, if fact well enough to go home. Once I was home I had some discomfort again in my upper back when I took a deep breath, but after the JP drain was removed I felt better instantly. Good luck on Monday.
