Surgery POSTPONED!
So I had my preop class last week, and ALL my preop testing tuesday.
&
, thanks UGI!!!!! anyway, getting excited at least.
date with dr evanson for rny 6/27! sooooo I get a call from his office friday at 1pm right before I get ready for work. I guess dr evanson will/had surgery and is out for 6-8 weeks and won't be able to operate!
i didn't ask details (minding my business), plus i was stunned. the office will have a date for me next week or so. what???? and to put icing on the cake/protein in the supplement/whatever, my husband comforts me by saying nothing when I tell him and going to sleep on the couch.
he then decided to say something when I got home after midnite, but it was a bit late for that. i tried talking to him 3 times while i was at work, and nothing.
i'm just so ready for the surgery, but i guess its not ready for me! i just need some words of encouragement/hugs/anything!!!!

Sweetie I can fully appreciate how dissapointed you are at the delay. Anyone going thru this would feel the same frustration. We all wished and prayed the waiting time away as it is so painful to feel so close to it and yet so far away. Your time will come and just take comfort in knowing you are approved and it WILL happen. Trust God for the timing that is perfect for you. As for the hubby,.....just remember honey he is a MAN....:o) Sometimes they truly do know you are upset but they do not know what to do so they do nothing. Remember men ALWAYS put on their "FIX IT" hat when they listen to our problems. It is what they are programed to do, if a problem comes up they try to fix it. In this situation, he can't fix the problem so he doesn't know what to do. Try to understand his male outlook and accept that it is not personal towards you. Just hug him and tell him you are so dissapointed, and you love him for his support in this journey. I always credit my hubby with my success thru this as he has had an active part in it all and truly has helped me keep on track and has been my biggest cheerleader. Hang in there and enjoy the time you have left and keep the joy in your heart that in 6 months this delay won't even have mattered.
Big Huggs to you!!
Marianne
I understand your frustration all too well. Dr Evanson was assisting my surgeon on my surgery and he had surgery on his hand and they had to post pone my surgery because of it. I was supposed to have it 2/14/07 and ended up waiting until 3/28/07 but God does everything for a reason... Doesn't comfort you right now but believe me.... My surgery would've gotten cancelled anyway because of that big blizzard we had, so i'm glad that it got cancelled ahead of time and not the day of... I was very frustrated.. in fact the day they called me to tell me it had been post poned I left work early went home and cried and ate a whole pizza... but my day came and it was worth every tear and day of waiting... i've never felt better in my life... So i'm there with ya girl if you want to vent, I've been there done that and it sucks ass.
Keep the faith and the head up

Oh Girl, I'm sorry this has happened, but take heart, YOU WILL have surgery!
Just remember, our men love us so much that they don't want to put their foot in their mouths-chewing shoe leather isn't tasty!!

My Hubby didn't know what to say when my first attempt for surgery was denied, and I had to wait another 18 mo.( go to the support groups, 6 mo. diet with new Dr. and jump thru all the hoops.) I so agree with Maryann, our men learn as we go along what we need & how to encourage us. They see the personality changes we go thru, along with the physical changes
Giving them time to adjust really makes a differance. When I least expect it, Dana will say or do the sweetest things to let me know he supports me. (Like remind me to slow down when I eat sometimes, cause I find something I really like, then what to gulp it, instead of enjoy it!)
He is my greatest support, cheerleader and friend. I just have/had to share what I am/was feeling & thinking, give him time to absorb it all and not expect instant results.
Hang in there and enjoy each day- remember your day is coming-soon!
I'm here for you.
(((hugs)))

Hey ...How are you doing other than the crumby news. I'm Todd, I met you at the Terre Haute WLS support group then again the next day at SVC hospital in the ER. I seen Dr Evanson a couple days ago when he took my G-tube out. He said he should be up to speed in no time so hopefully your journey to health will begin soon. I think the last we spoke I had lost around 100 lbs but now I'm down 130 lbs. Feeling wonderful now that I'm kicking this food addiction. Take care and I'll pray for your road to the loosing side.
Well I am a man and can say we don't always do as we should.
I have to remember that God mad woman from a rib taken from my side. A person to be a helpmate.
It is in God's hands and He will step up for you at the time that is right for His will.
Work on changing food habits and excercise. It has taken me 7 weeks to turn on the key for walking. I spent thousands of dollars even with insurance to have this surgery and did not want to spend 19.97 at Walmart to get a good pedometer. I finally made the buy and have been blessed since. I have increased my steps each day for 10 days and finally reached 10000 steps yesterday. I will not and do not plan on ever gaining back weight that the RnY has allowed me to lose. I read where only 5% of the people with surgery ever reach a healthy BMI weight an I plan on being in that 5% and maintaining it until the Lord takes me home.
Hang in there and give that man of yours what I call "warm fuzzies" not "cold *****lies". He will come around I am sure.
My wife and I have mentioned to the St. V's staff that a support group for the spouses and other helpemates is needed. I watch my wife trying to help and I can't at times tell her what i am feeling and what the level of importance is.
