I called my insurance company today to find out what their requirements are up front because if I need 5 years of weight history and all I'm gonna have to do a lot of searching to find my PCP from before I moved to Indiana and all and they said that their only requirement is that I am Morbidly Obese with Co-morbidities and have Psychiatric eval and some other testing. So does this mean I may be able to avoid having to jump through hoops, do y'all think?? So far I Meet all of their requirements. Thanks Misty

Misty, Some insurance is that easy.  Mine is the same way, all they require is a BMI over 40 or 35 with comorbidities.  They required pre-op testing and a psych eval, but that wasn't to get approval they wanted it to be sure I was suitable for the surgery.

Good luck, hope everything moves fast for you.  I started this on April 16th.  The only reason it's taking as long as it is, is because of getting appointments.  I just got to see the psych. on the 30th and she said it take about a week for her to get the dictation back.  Then she will get it to the doctors office and they will sent it to the insurance.  I want an approval letter even though they say it's a go.  So now it's just a matter of waiting on the doctors office to get to it to send it in.   Here's to quick approval for all. my insurance company sent me a letter with a list of things they wanted. I had to do a 6 months of diet and in that 6 months I got all my paper work around and after I got it into them it took them like 4 days to say yeah to having surgery. did they say anything about having to do a diet with your dr? all you can do it sent everything they want in and if they need more info they will let you know. that is how my insurance company worked. good luck
