2 and half months out...

Hello everyone.... Hope all has been well.. So I had my surgery on March 13th and well let's just say I had every complication in the books... My body did not like the surgery at all... I was in and out of the hospital 8 or so times.  IT's been a rough few months, let just say.. Now i'm back to work, and trying to hope all is uphill.. I've lost 77 lbs so far, so there's a positive. BUT,, i'm having so much problems with eating.  I feel like I force myself to eat,, and it's the protein, I'm having issues.. Can anyone help please... (BTW.. I hate the taste of whey protein powders and stuff)... Heather

Heather, I always hate to hear a newbie had problems. I sincerely hope that is all behind you now. As to the protein...is it a taste thing or a nausea thing? If it's a nausea thing, you may have become lactose intollerent. It happens...but alot of the time when it does, it's temporary. I'm sure others will chime in on what worked best for them. I  know for me, Isopure was the one the nuts recommended...and I just could NOT choke down. If it's a taste thing...or a consistency thing..it can be difficult to find the drink that is right for you. I recently discovered Cutting Edge Nutrition in Castleton. They have a pre-mixed drink called Shake-A-Whey that I think is just fantastic. They have it in strawberry (reminds me of Nestle Quick), chocolate (a little thick), and vanilla. I love mocha java so I mix 1:1 chocolate & vanilla with 1/2 pot of cold decaf coffee. This makes about eight 20 g servings. It's good also that they'll let you taste-test each of them.  Good luck..and stay in touch! Sherri

Try GNC. If you save your receipt, and you don't like how it tastes, they will take it back. I tried several protein powders till I found one I could take (Isopure Strawberry). Linda Vicory

Heather, So  sorry to hear you are having a hard time. I am lactose intolerant, so I have gone to using soymilk, and Shake-a-Whey protien. Thanks to Sherri's reciepe, I am loving mocha java coffee!!! Do call your dietician, and see if they can give you any ideas. I do alot fo seafood and cheeses also.  Good luck, and keep going up those hills- they do get easier to climb!!!I wish you all the best. Keep posting!!! (((hugs))) Ellen
