Just received this report from Tom on Jennie.  Please continue to lift up Jennie & Tom, these difficulities will soon pass. Dan *****************************************************************************************************

Dear Friends and Family,

Hello to all of you this Lord's Day, from room 261, St. Vincent Carmel hospital. They were able to get my dear Jennie's pain under control late last night, and we were both able to get a little sleep. Jennie was sleeping when I left the hospital early this morning and traveled back home to attend church. She was doing well when I talked to her at 11:00 as I was leaving home to return to the hospital in Carmel, but things changed pretty fast.

Apparently, just after I talked to her, she had a reaction to one of the drugs she had received, called Nubain. She immediately felt like her body was freezing, even though her body and face were flushed. Her heart rate went up very quickly, and she started going into shock. She immediately asked the nurse who was giving her the Nubain to give her Benadryl, to relieve the symptoms, then the nurse called in an emergency first response "code." Within a couple of minutes, there were two doctors, three nurses, and two respiratory therapists in her room, assessing her condition and hooking up monitors.

They were just beginning to get her under control when I arrived back at the hospital, just after noon. If she had stopped breathing, they would have given her a drug that would have neutralized all of the other drugs in her system for 36 hours, and she would have really suffered. It took about an hour and a half before they got her completely stabilized.

My dear Jennie's guests today were, Jerry & Karen Smith, Bob & Barb Smith, Gene Smith, Corey Smith, Jody Curtis, Judy Smith, Sandy Thomas, Cheryl Cormany, and Jerry & Debbie Hutchings.

In the past, Jennie has told me that most patients have the worst pain on the third and the seventh day after major surgery. Please continue to lift her up to the Lord in prayer at this difficult time.

Have a blessed Memorial Day,

Tom

I am in pain and distress; may your salvation, O God, protect me. I will praise God's name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving.

I may not visit her but I do pray for her! I too react very badly to Nubane!! AWFUL Drug to those of us who can't handle it!! Thank you dan for keeping us updated.. is she loosing weight??? Or is she so pumped with fluids... Being in bed this long in the hospital she has had to loose muscle mass.. The poor lady!! God sure knew what he was doing to use her and her husband to minister during this awful time.. You can tell by her husbands sweet spirit that God is totally in control.. I bet she feels like Job...all this coming against her but she remains firm in her convictions.. Such an inspiration. Linda
