Cheryl Cormany Back in the hospital

Hi I'm John, Cheryl's boyfriend.  Last Monday Cheryl had her surgery and she spent a couple of days afterwards doing a ton of walking and learning her new way of life.  Late Wednesday night we headed for home, Columbia City, IN.  Thursday went well for her and she continued to walk even in the light rain.  Then came  Friday....  didn't feel well, thought maybe she over did it.... let's wait to see.   By noon she was throwing everything up and was in pain cause she couldn't hold her pain meds down.  At midnight we called the doctor and was told to wait and see if it goes away by morning.  Well it didn't and the pain was REALLY bad.  She woke me at 6am and said we're off to Indy again!  We spent the entire day in the emergency room!  Seems like after a cat scan, several tests, and seeing the doctor, that the new lower intestine tube is either swelled, twisted, or has a blood clog in it.  Got her on IV's and loaded with pain relieve.  I headed back as I am  farm animal sitting for friends off for the weekend.  Doctor says that there going to wait a couple of days to see if it corects itself, else their going back in.  According to the doctor this is the second case in over 600+ surgeries he has done.  Let you know more, when I know more.  Till then we just have suspended the weight loss idea until we get healthy again!  Hope you folks all are having a good weekend.

John, Please tell Cheryl we are all thinking of her. I met Cheryl at the last clothing exchange and she is an absolute sweetheart. I am looking forward to getting to know her better. I'm assuming she's at St. Vincent's...? If only we could know ahead of time who was going to have what problems, huh? Cherly is the first person I have heard of to have intestine problems within a week of her surgery. As we get ~1+ years post-op, many of us has had internal hernias..or what is often called kinky bowel syndrome (KBS) because it's caused by the intestine getting kinked up. I had 3 of these along with scar tissue build-up that was blocking the intestine. If the surgical procedure is similar to correct Cheryl's, mine was done laproscopically. They went into the same incisions as was for my RNY. It was an out-patient thing so the same day done, same day I went home. I was off work for about 4 weeks. I don't remember having a drainage tube. Oh, please don't let her shelf the idea of weight loss! She will lose...even while in the hospital! Right now, she may gain a few lbs back because of the IV but as soon as that is out, she will lose again.  We all pulling for Cheryl!! Sherri

Thanks for letting us know. Please tell Cheryl we are all thinking of her- and NOT to give up! Sure, some go thru rough spots, but the outcome is so much better than being in a lifetime of obesity and ill health. Hopefully by the time you get this, it will all be resolved ,and she'll feel like a new woman again. Please tell her I'm praying for her.  (((hugs))) Ellen

John I am so sorry to hear that Cheryl is having a set back with her surgery.  My wife Ann and I were up to visit her last Tuesday and she seemed to be doing so well.  Help her keep up those positive spirits we saw as we walked with her the day after her surgery. She is on our prayer list and we will continue to lift her up that God's healing hand will touch her and her medical team to resolve this bump in the road. Give her our love.  We will be in Carmel on Friday, June 1 and check to see if she is still in the hospital, so we can pay her a visit.  Hopefully she will be back in Columbia City with you by then.
