I still find traveling hard on my "diet". for the plane ride I usually take a couple sticks of cheese, protein bars (I love the double chocolat3~pure protein brand from Wal~mart!!), pretzels, cracker, water bottle from the airport. I am able to tolerate sugar so I can snack on the crackers, dried fruit and peanuts on the flight snack packs. I struggle on vacation to keep my "normal" eating routine and do the best I can with salads, fresh fruits and vegatables. We always get a suite with a fridge so I can stock up on my cottage chees, hood milk, fruits and yogarts. Just remember to hydrate and keep your protein up!
Enjoy your vacation!
Hugs!
I haven't flown since my RNY, but I know that keeping hydrated is a major concern. The pressurized cabin can cause a normal person to become dehydrated so keep the water handy. Ask for an aisle seat so you can go to the bathroom. Also, if you are within a couple of months of surgery, blood clots are still a major concern. You will want to be able to walk the aisles as much as possible to keep the blood flowing in your legs. You might request a seat with extra leg room so you can exercise when you can't walk (like when the drink cart is blocking).
Enjoy your trip. Ten hours is a LONG flight. My first time in an airplane was a flight like that from Philly to Frankfurt, Germany with a six-year-old and a six-week-old baby.
Best wishes,
Annette
I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
