need some help with lossing weight with protein shake

I am tring to loss some weight before surgery the lady at my dr office wants this . so I am tring protein shake and I am getting sick to my tummy from them and they are so gross is there anything i can try to make them better? they want me on 1200 calorie diet to help loss the weight. if any of you can help please help me. I need to loss around 50lbs thanks Brandy

Brandy, If you can, go to The Cutting Edge nutrition store. There's one in Castleton. They will allow you to taste-test many of their products. My favorite is their Shake-A-Whey line. They have it in Strawberry (tastes like Nestle Quick), vanilla & Chocolate. I mix the vanilla & chocolate (1 container of each) with 1/2 pot of cold decaf coffee. Makes for a great mocha java! Each complete box is 420 calories and 65 grams of protein. Each box also costs ~$3.50...which is extremely cheap as far as protein drinks go. Unfortunately, protein drinks will be a part of your life post-op as well so do your best to find one you really like.  With having a 50 lb loss goal, be sure to include some healthy complex carbs. I would also recommend your drinking 8 oz of light or sugar-free grape juice each day to prevent your body from going into ketosis. Stock up on sugar-free popcycles. When you get munchies, crunch on them. Drink AT LEAST eight 8 oz glass of water a day. Do NOT drink caffienated drinks or drinks with sugar. Either one defeats the purpose. Finally, start walking. It doesn't matter if you can only handle 1 trip around the perimeter of your yard at a time. Walk! They have found that people get just as much benefit from three 10 minute walks as they do from one 30 minute walk.  Go to http://www.SparkPeople.com.
