is it this easy??

Hello. I'm new to this forum. I've been thinking about lap band for a long time now. I finally talked to my doctor and he reccomended it and refered me to a surgeon. they told me to call my insurance, anthem, and see what I needed to do. Anthem said as long as the surgeon says I need it, they will pay. I thought there would be problems with insurance. Is that too good to be true?? Does anyone reccomend a great surgeon in Indiana? You are lucky. It isn't that simple with most insurance companies. I've heard good things about BC though. You'll get a lot of good refferals on this board. I can highly reccomend my surgeon, Dr. Christopher Evanson. His office is at Clarion Hospital in Carmel and I had my surgery at St. vincent in Carmel. I had RNY but he does do lap band. Welcome to the club.

Yep it COULD be that easy to be approved. Be thankful if it is and not to surprised if it isn't, hahah. As for surgeon recommendations on the band... well... I had Dr Clark via St Francis's WeightLoss program although he does have his own office and program (Priemere Bariatrics). He's done several other loosers that post here often bandings also. But please do take the time to do a lot of research on several banding doctors... pick one that YOU will be comfortable with.. not who's popular. GOOD LUCK! Jodi

That's great that your insurance could be so easy. I would ask for anything they say in writing though. That's just me, maybe. Good luck. I would recommend the doctors and program at St. Vincent Carmel. I had Dr. Inman there, and thought she was wonderful. Linda Vicory
