Mammoth Cave

I wanted to share with all my friends.............. Today we took our 11 year old daughter to Mammoth Cave for her birthday. When we arrived there we looked at the different cave tours and I particulary paid special attention to the different "challenge levels" of difficulty on the walking tours. My husband signed us up for the most rugged, 4.5 mile tour that was available without having to put on spelunking gear. I was very reluctant to do this tour because in the past at being almost 300 lbs. I wasn't near going to do it. They would have had to bring me out on a stretcher. But today I did it!! I wasn't huffing and puffing like before, well maybe a little on the steep hills we had to climb but I actually did it. This has been my first real challenge to doing new activities since surgery and I really did it!!! I may be a little sore tomorrow but I am going out of my comfort zone since I have lost weight and at times it's a little scary. Regina

That is great that you were able to do the hike. I'll bet you feel wonderful psychologically tomorrow, even if you are a little physically sore, because you were able to accomplish this. I know what you mean about it being a little scary at times. Linda Vicory

Congratulations! I know how hard it can be to try new and more challenging things. I still have trouble "stepping out of my comfort zone". I'm very proud of you for doing it. Cindy
