I was just wondering if anyone has had anything similar that they can give me some on. My legs have just recnetly started to swell, mainly behind my calves. I went to the doctor and all of the symptoms sounded like blood clots, (pain, heat swelling) not to mention he said the location it was a sign of the type that travels to your lungs and / or brain (not good) so he immediately sent me to the hospital for a doppler test. he instructed them not to release me until they had called him with the results. If in fact they found anything I was told I would be sent straight down to the emergency room. Well after a couple of hours I was informed that they did not find anything so I was sent home. Well they are still swelling and I have no idea why. I go back to the doctor on the 14th but in the mean time I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this and if so do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much for any help any one can give me.. I used to have Celluitis in my legs all of the time. I went to the doctor for it a few times before they could diagnose it. I had the same symptoms. Sometimes they would itch as well, sometimes not.

When I used to get swelling around my ankles, oddly enough increasing my fluids would help clear it out. Linda Vicory

I had it too because of pain and swelling in my calf but after my doopler they just said it was obesity.. That is the only dignoses for anyone over a size 6 it seems... One Dr told me it was a fatty tumor that would go away when I lost weight.. Hubby had it and it was cellulitis.. after his antibiotics his legs are still swollen and red.. I think he needs more. I get it often, and thought at first it was blood clots too. But alas, it was cellulitis. I will have a tendency towards infections all my life they said. Comes from deep vein disease caused by being obese for so long, the redness is tissue breakdown they said,,the swelling is part of the vein thing. They told me to wear compression hose,,NOT THIGH HIGH,,that cuts off the circulation and can make it worse,,but pantyhose. When I do, it really helps. Was told to wear them during the day, or at least if I am gonna be sitting or standing for long periods of time. Walking is the best exercise, and propping them up when ya sit. No hot baths, only showers, because the ho****er makes the vessels openand swell more. If it itches or is hot,,thats a sign of infection and ya need antibiotics, its nothing tomess with. My PCP didnt evenknow it was cellulitis,,I went to an infectious disease doc,,and then the emergencey room, where they prescribed strong antibiotics. Not saying thats what you have, buty ou might mention it to the docs and they can check for it. Good luck Betsy
