had a good day in Indy

I was planning on being in Indy today while my DH was at a conference but it turned into more than a day off. I had to reschedule my May 21 appt with Dr. E and was able to get in while I was down here today. According to his scales I'm down 120 lbs. I did the Nut visit before the Dr appt. Before I went into the Nut vist I rand down by radiology and found my new friend Cheryl Carmony waiting for her pre op tests. Then after my dr apt I went back to St. V and I went up and met Jennie Biggs and her husband. What a nice couple they are. Jennie said Dr Gupta is going to let her go home for a while before the surgery that is scheduled later this month. After I left St. V I drove south and found Sherri's house to drop off a few clothes for Dawn and I met Bill for the first time and we had a nice visit. From there I headed back toward downtown to pick up my DH but I had a few minutes so I stopped to get something to eat and called Gail.. I had originally planned to going to visit her but my other errands consumed most of my day. We made the drive back north and went out to dinner with friends then I came home and walked 3 miles on the treadmill. Now I'm tired and I'm going to bed.

Jan, Boy were you busy today! Thank you for stopping and seeing me in radiology. They called me in shortly after you left. I didn't have a ultrasound, must be because I don't have a gallbladder. Guess who got hives from the barium. What a nasty suprise! I was afraid I would miss David Copperfield tonite! Good thing they developed early enough to take meds and go to the show it would have been a real bummer to miss his show it was great! Hopefully they have an alternative to the barium to check for leaks. My luck it will be even nastier than the barium lol. I have my Nut class tomorrow! Things are starting to seem real now, I can hardly wait! Surgery will be here before I know it. Cheryl

Cheryl DR K uses a blue liquid to check for leaks... They put it in through your tubing while you're under and make sure it doesn't come out. It's blue so they can see it if it does leak out your stomach and it makes you pee green for about 4-5 days be warned!! NO MORE BARIUM!!! YEAH!!! Jessyca

And if they miss your mouth or pour it in too quick, it comes out on your hair.... Blue dye + Blond hair = Green hair for about a month The kids jokes about your hair? .................Priceless.................

Jan, Don't you love days like that?? It makes you feel like you've accomplished a ton of stuff. Bill & I felt like that yesterday too. Woo-hoo! Only I didn't do any extra walking. In fact, went to bed an hour earlier than normal! Thank you for bringing the stuff by. I hope the directions were all ok. After work, I met Dawn Adams (WLSIndy) and picked up some stuff for Dawn as well. Good news that Jennie is going to be able to go home for a few weeks. I'm sure her and her husband are both ready for some down time at home. I hope today is a good day for you as well!! Sherri

Hi Kristina, They drew blood (a lot) and did an EKG, Pulmonary lung function test. Plus the upper GI and Chest x-ray. Jan said she also had a abdominal ultrasound. I didn't but I had my gallbladder removed years ago, I don't know if that was the reason or not. Besides getting hive everything went smooth they have it set up great you go to one station after the other. The only time I had any real waiting was for x-ray. But once I was called in it didn't take long. Good luck next week and welcome to the boards. Cheryl
