Hi all, I am about 5 months out from surgery. I have a big problem. IM SO BORED WITH THE FOOD I AM EATING!!!!!!!!! I guess I need some new ideas. Any suggestions about where to find new ideas, or anything like that? Any help would be great! S.

Hi I'm nearly 2 years out & that boredom has changed into satisfaction when I stay with familiar foods. I still try new stuff but I'm happier with the tried & true. Best of luck! Kathy C. HW 350 PreOP 330 2day 172

I like experimenting with spices..also, love onions and garlic! Think of what you use to like, and figure out a low fat/calorie way to make it! For instance...if pizza was your thing, get a flat wrap (high in fiber, great on everything else!!), spread some sugar-free pizza sauce on it and top it with grilled chicken & veggies...then add low fat cheese (don't go with 'no fat' on the cheese for this...it does not taste good melted!). Pop it in the oven long enough to get everything nice and toasty. Post-op eating does not have to be boring or bland...but you do need to be more creative and learn how to do things abit differently than the way you were raised to do them. Bon apetite! Sherri

Scott, It was great seeing you again at support group. You're doing fantastic and look great. Brenda has been using more recipes from cookbooks and modifying them to be sugar free/fat free. I bought her a fat free Italian cookbook for Christmas and one that a gastric bypass patient wrote called Cooking After Gastric Bypass. She's been experimenting quite abit because I was getting bored with chicken especially. We've got some good recipes from the cooking class too. What kind of foods do you like. Let me know and maybe we have some recipes that I can send you. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Floyd

Scott First, congrats on your weight loss journey success. You are looking great. After 18 months I just try to eat for nurishment and not for taste. In my opinion being bored with food is a positive. Dan

I'm with Floyd. You have to be willing to experiment (and cook). The cooking class we go to at Clarion Bariatrics has some terrific recipes. I can send you hardcopies if you like, just send me a message with your address. Also, Pampered Chef has a great cookbook called "It's Good For You". It has some really good lowfat recipes. I can hook you up with a rep if you're interested (you don't have to come to one of the "girlie" parties to order! ). Hope this helps. Cindy

I find that I do better if I stick to basics. Not trying to get too fancy, or too many choices. But that's just me. You might try a cooking class. I know St. Vincent's has a monthly one. Linda Vicory
