I have just gone for my first seminar on the Lap Band..I would like to talk to anyone who is poddibly from Southern Infiana. I live in Salem..close to the Indiana/Kentucky border, but not yet met anyone else from this area that may have had this procedure. I thought maybe in the Kentucky room I could have found someone, but no such luck. It would be nice to find someone close.....any takers?

I'm at the other end of the State and I had RNY but the rest of our stories are similar. Welcome to OH Indiana board. There are a lot of good people hear that have had a lot of experiences, good and bad. I'm sure you will find someone close to you. Visit often and post with any question. good to have you here.

Hi Lee I'm from Han**** county Kentucky which is right across the river from Perry county Indiana, Tell city. where is Salem? Which Dr are you going to? I am having lap band on June 18 can hardly wait. My sister had bypass in Dec on 07 and has lost nearly 100 lbs allready, I don't want to lose that fast so I chose the band as well as not needing as much time off work to recover. Let me know what you decide. Char

Salem is about 30 miles north of New Albany...which sits right on the river from Louisville! Very small town! But really like it here! I have decided on the lap band and am going with Dr Allen because he does it laproscopically! I have had my tubal done that way, so I feel it would be best for me...less invasive and he has done many! I am going to go to Norton's Hospital which is in Louisville. It was the most convenient for me.....I have severe back problems and need surgery, but that cannot happen til I get the weight off. I want to hopefully get it done in the next couple months if possible. i went to the seminar and then turned in my packet of paperwork with my Medical Records a week later. They called Wednesday to let me know they got them. They were suprised I had them together that fast, but I have been researching and preparing for this for almost 3 years now! You and I think alot alike with the Lapband, I want to lose it a little slower than most, but can't wait to start!

Hi Lee, I'm from way up north (2miles from Michigan), but I did have the Lap Band. Best thing I ever did for myself! I didn't want the more invasive RNY, and wanted to loose the weight more slowly. Nearly 2 years out and only 22lbs to go! Good luck with your research on WLS, making the final decision is the hardest hurdle to jump, then there's the Insurance paperwork hurdle, then you're home free and headed the loosers bench! Blessings! Hope
