i usually drink with a straw, but some people are telling me i shouldn't. It does not hurt my tummy at all, and thats the only way i can get more fluids in. is this bad?

I have read both things! Some Dr.'s say no straws and some say they are fine! Mine said no straws!! But..... I am a big straw user. The cold water hurts my front teethe and I could never get so much water in without my straw!!! My best advice would be try and do what your Dr. tells ya to do, but when that won't work find something that will! Mine also said no gum! I stayed off of it for the first 5 months, but I love gum and chew it instead of food! So again I modified his best advice to fit my needs! I hope this wishy washy stuff helps some!! Blessings, Carmen

I'm with Carmen there. St V's says you suck in air with straw usage, but I've used a straw since about 2 weeks out, when I was frustrated abut not getting my water in. I ALWAYS have to have a straw. It doesn't hurt my pouch either, but I imagine for some it might.

That is something I didnt think to ask my doc. maybe I should but then if he tells me no and I cant get enough water in I know me I will try it anyway. Like carmen it hurts my front teeth to drink cold stuff and thats the way I like my water really really cold.. Vicki

Mine said no straws too. But I found that I swallowed less air with a straw than I did just sipping! I say see what works best for you. Cindy
