Nope. No language barrier to the the advertising you did here on the INDIANA board. Your post would be fine if it were on a PERU board or if you had only put it in your profile. But you didn't. You posted it here on our Indiana, United States of America board. I don't want to see any of my friends travelling all the way to Peru to have a surgery in another country without the benfit of their family and friend nearby. People DO die from this surgery and the last thing anyone wants to hear on their deathbed is 'no coprenda Engish'. I am very glad that you are happy with your surgery. We here on the Indiana board likes to welcome everyone onto the board...but..... We have experienced complications here. We have experienced deaths of friends and loved ones while they were going through their weight loss journey. For someone, anyone, suggest that anyone should pack a bag and fly out of the country to have this procedure just isn't right...and as my Indiana board's friend...and I would like to think, mentor, it would be irresponsible of me to idly sit by and keep my mouth shut while this is happening. My Hoosier friends...I know that it can be daunting to get through the approval process, but it is SO worth it!! If you are in the slightest bit tempted to book a flight to Peru, PLEASE send a note to Val. Ask her about her out of state experience....which is described more like her near-death experience. I meant to say that Val's experience was out of the (United) States...not State. Sherri By the way...I think you have been very lucky that you haven't experienced any problems...so far. 'Cheap' is NOT always better...and your health, your life, is not something to go generic with!

I am in TOTAL agreement with Sherri- I lost a friend to complications from a surgery performed in Mexico. Often, the Drs, here have NO Idea what drugs, sterilization(if any) etc. etc. have been done- and are dealing with things that are complications from botched surgeries. Not saying all countries are this way, just that the good old USA has wonderful Drs. who know how to deal with any problems that MIGHT arise. If you are looking for a wonderful surgeon, I can't say enough about Dr. Inman, she rocks!!! The St. Vincents Bariatric Center of Excellence is the best place in the state to have surgery- check out there web site if you are looking for the best! To all you pre-opts, please be careful & be sure to check out the credentials of any Dr. or hospital you are interested in. Cheap sometimes is just that-CHEAP-. Ellen

First let me say- I am happy that everything worked out well for you! You are there and close, so if complications DID arise, you would be lucky! You mention you are 2 1/2 months out and eating everything, I AM SURE THAT IS PROBABLY not WHAT YOU MEANT- HHMMM I AGREE, JUST BECAUSE IT IS CHEAPER DOESN'T MEAN IT IS THE BEST DECISION! To all Preops- RESEARCH< RESEARCH< RESEARCH---- APPEAL< APPEAL< APPEAL! I realize complications can happen everywhere, the United States included. But why would you want to jeopordize not being near family and friends during this journey complications or not- because it is CHEAPER!!!???? As well as not being able to have follow up care, close if needed! I agree with Sherri, we here on our Indiana board have experienced alot, including death of someone very near to many of us. I don't feel that this was the appropriate place to solicet(sp) your surgeon or your country- there is an appropriate board for that! there are many great surgeons who are her locally that have and continue to perform complication free surgeries. When some do arise, they are close, and able to get immediate care and have us all here for support as needed! My decision of WLS is not nor was not based on CHEAP!!!! My life is WORTH much more than a few saved dollars! Hugz dawn PS please check out STALKER VALS journal, it is true and she is a HOOSIER!!!!
