So I posted yesterday that my surgery is a no go at this time... but I am really pumped up right now about weight loss and I feel that I shoudl take advantage of my current motivation. I know that St. V offers some non surgical weight loss programs does anyone know of any others in the state that they have seen results with? I have about 100lbs to lose which is doable with diet and exercise it will just SUCK. I have never tried any "med's" for WL but I am open to this as well. If anyone has tried anything in the past that has worked let me know... I am searching for ideas without tryign to get frustrated at this time. Thanks, J

Jayme, Dr. Deeya Brooks (317-582-8030) has a weight loss program through St. V's that is suppose to be really good. I have NEVER been on a weight loss program which involved meds which continued to work after the meds stopped. Would I do it again. NO! Some people seem to think that weight loss surgery is magical and without it, weight loss can not be done. Wrong! Can you do that without surgery? Yes! And guess what? We who have had the surgery also HAVE TO exercise or we would not continue to lose the weight. The ONLY way to lose weight IS by portion control and exercise. Yes, it sucks, but it is the ONLY way weight will be lost and stay gone. Know what the difference is between ME pre and post-op??? The surgery forced me to eat less and chew my food properly and my surgeon's advise got me off my butt and started walking. The more I lost, the more energy I had. Losing weight is NOT a 'diet'...it MUST become a change of lifestyle or it WILL FAIL. The surgery forced me to make it a lifestyle change for me..but given the complications that I had...and trust me, I do NOT regret having the surgery at all....but given the complications I had (Read my profile), I wish I had dug down into myself and found the intelligence and will power to make it a lifestyle change without having surgery! If you are looking for an easy way out, you won't find one...even if the insurance had approved WLS surgery. Sherri

Weight loss meds that I tried only worked on me for about 3 months. They made my stomach too queezey to eat. Once I got used to them they did no good. The best method I found prior to surgery was Weigh****chers. It worked for me each time I tried it. (I just couldn't stay with it more than 3 or 4 months at a time) It works best if you have a friend or family member going with you for support. Good luck.

Besides WLS the bestthing for me was Dr Piateck on 465 and 10th street. He does Meds and he is such a cute little hunk.. you dont want to disapoint him.. About as cute as Dr E.. they could be brothers!! Expensive.. Like Sherri said.. itisnt diet it is LIFESTYLE Change... even surgery is forced lifestyle change.. and if you dont stay changed.. you can gain it back.. my sister went back from a 12 to a 16 after 5 years.. but a 16 was still better than the 32 she started at... sigh.. Did you appeal??? Linda
