I spoke with the surgeons office today and they said that with the exclusion on my policy there is nothing that I can do. They recommended a new job or pay out of pocket. Well right now neither are an option. They said that I could fight it but since I have no life threatening comorbidities (I am after all ONLY 100 pounds over weight and TRYING to prevent other comorbidities) that I would not have a chance. I guess that it is back to exercise and dieting for me... so that I can fail at that again. feeling sorry for my self and let down...

Jayme, I'm so sorry to hear that. May I recommend your (1) staying active on here. ObesityHelp is NOT just for those who will have or have had weight loss surgery. There is a terrific weight loss support system here. Remember that many of the things we are doing, can be done without the surgery. Yes, it takes more will power...but we can certainly offer sugestions that could help you out. The (2) suggestion is that you join www.SparkPeople.com. It is a very comprehensive site that helps you in every aspect of weight loss. There are also teams on there to help cheer you on (I started on for us hoosier's in the team locations-->IN-->Indianapolis-->Indy Losers). I know that it's discouraging, but know that all is not lost. I wish I knew 5 years ago what I know now and I may have never gotten over 300 lbs...much less my highest at 352. You are welcome to drop me a note if you'd like for me to share some pointers to help you get started! Sherri

Don't give up hope. One door closes, another opens. I wanted this sooo bad five years ago and my insurance didn't cover it either. since then, i've gotten married, moved two states over, and got a different job. JUST so happens, my job now covers WLS. I had to wait awhile, but a solution always makes its way to us.
