St. Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence... anyone used?

I have had my first surgeon consult and I am beginning the process. I am looking at having the LapBand. Has anyone had WLS at St. V? Specifically Dr. Gupta? What did you think... how has your experience been? Also, I could use some local success stories for Banders... I am currently 265lbs and looking to lose about 100lbs. I am 28 y.o with 2 small children. Final question... for anyone who has been banded... how long until you could return to work? My surgeon said about 2 weeks but I wondered does it really take that long? I have had laporoscopic surgery before and I returned to work on Monday.

Jayme, I had Dr. Gupta and absolutely loved her! I experienced some complications and she was wonderful through-out them all. I had RNY, not lap-band. Sherri

Jayme I had surgery at St V's and i LOVED it the nurses are EXCELLENT, funny, understanding and there for your EVERY need... I would definitely recommend there to have surgery... There are a few people on the board that have had the band... Jo JO and Tania are two I know of... you might trying sending them a private message and ask how they're doing. Jessyca

I just had surgery there on March 29th. Dr. Jones was my surgeon, but Gupta checked on me the next day. She seemed to be really nice and caring. I had the Lap RNY and for just a week out of surgery, I feel wonderful. I took 2 weeks off work just to make sure that I am fully recovered, but honestly I feel as if I could go back today!!
