GOT MY REPORT BACK TODAY ON MY MRI OF THE NECK

Well I saw my PCP today and reviewed the report from the MRI from my neck that taken the other day. In his opinion surgery will probably be required to fix the problems revealed in the MRI. So he is setting me up with an excellent surgeon here in Kokomo for an evaluation and probably surgery. Just what I need right now. I tell you folks; sooner or later this old 1943 Packard is going to be refurbished like new. Looks like I have a fun spring and summer coming up. He prescribed a glove for me to wear that supports my left hand so I am trying it out now. He also added another anti-depressant to help with the depression that I am going thru with all that is going on. So it looks like there might me light at the end of the tunnel yet. I am still on for April 10th to have the Stimulator test installed to help the low spine problem. No info back from the Insurance Co. yet. One thing that I believe is happening is that all the strain on my body by carrying over 450 lbs of weight for many years has taken its tole on my body. I certainly do not regret WLS, but now we have to fix the damage. The doc was very encouraging this morning. We discussed all the positive medical changes that have taken place since WLS in areas that are critical to living. The pains and weakness will just take a little longer and requires a lot of patience on my part. The input that you friends gave me on my last post has really motivated me and I plan to see this thru. I am so glad that you younger folks have made the decision to have WLS so that hopefully you can avoid some of the damages to the skeletal parts of your bodies. I may never be able to run a 10K or lift weights, but I do hope to avoid going back to the power chair. I am so glad to see so many new faces here on the board and hope that I can help you folks thru your journey just as so many have helped me. I do not know what I would do without all your friendships and hearing how WLS has changed your life. It is now time to quit having my daily pity parties and move on to helping others. So that is the role I want to resume here on the board If there is anything I can do to help you thru your journey let me know either by a post or email. So I am getting up off the Pity Potty, flu**** and move on. Ann and I have started bagging up all my big clothes and shoes for April exchange and barring any disaster we will be there. I am really looking forward to meeting with you new folks and seeing my past friends who have been here for me this past 16 months or so. You have been such great support for not only myself but also for Ann. God Bless All of You Papa Dan

Well Dan I hope this is the beginning of an up swing for you. I'm glad your Dr. is optimistic. Seems like you have had a lot of problems. I do feel fortunate I was able to have my surgery before I started to break down, but who knows what may show in the future. I emptied my closet yesterday because we are remodeling our BR and we had to gut it. I think over half my clothes are laying on the couch waiting to be sorted into boxes for the exchange. I'm so anxious to get down there and talk to everyone again. See you on the 28TH. btw. any more news on Jennie Biggs?

you sound very upbeat and thats a good thing.....flush that potty and do not get back on it....this surgery is awesome for the younger people....and us older ones would be having alot more issues had it not been for this surgery too though...

Dan, Glad to hear you are doing better (mentally, if not physically yet). I hope the neck surgery and stimulator solve most of your problems. You have a great outlook and are quite the inspiration for the rest of us. Cindy

Hi Dan, I sent you a pm. but just wanted to add my best wishes, prayers and support with everyone else here. You are such a great supporter of us all, now just take it easy and do whatever the Drs. tell you so you can get better, K?! Remember He said-"I know the plans I have for you- plans to give you hope and a future". Keep claiming the promises He has for you. (((hugs))) to you and Ann both, Ellen

Dan, sounds like you got somewhat encouraging news from your doctor. Even though further surgery is involved. I have degenerative disc disease and severe arthritis. I am down 72 pounds already and feel so much better. My back is still giving me some trouble but it is so much better. I am anxious to meet you and Ann on the 28th. You sound like such a neat couple and God has used you richly on this board to encourage many people. He isn't finished with you yet, and has plans to use a willing vessel. Praise God for the success you have had with your loss so far. Without the amount you have lost to date, perhaps the things the doctor's can do now would not be possible. I wish you the best. Karen
